These are very easy to use. The nesting is nice, too. They are hollow and have a little tab to help pull line through (instead of trying to push it through). They are not as sturdy as more traditional fids, though. Don't use them as a handle!I prefer the Brion Toss splicing wand for most splices.

These are well made and polished. they are really the selma fids labeled also as ronstan. they are much simpler to use than samson or NER fids. they make splicing high tech lines such as dyneema or technora much more enjoyable. the well polished tips make it much easier to avoid fraying or severing fibers as you use them. in combination with a d-splicer, or even a bent piece of crab pot or lock wire, there should be no splice you can't do in high tech line.

I was able to use this kit the day it arrived. Had been looking for a complete set of Fids in one kit and the Ronstan kit worked out perfectly. There is a small tooth at the back of the Fid that holds the line in place while your splicing so you don't need to tape the lines.

Selma fids that have Ronstan label, made in Norway and very well made stainless steel, ( simple fix ) along with some other people my 2 large fits were stuck together but easy fix 1 get a scrap piece of wood I used a 6 inch 2x4 - 2 point tip down on wood vertical 3 use a house hold hammer with a flat blade medium screwdriver 4 put flat blade screwdriver on smaller fid and tap screwdriver with household hammer and fits pop apart very easily 5 with a small pair of angled needle nose pliers on largest fid gently pry up triangular tab slightly 6 fits sticking solved. thank you for your time, have a good day!. ps fits are very easy to use.

These fids have a hook inside on the end; the rope goes into the fid and the hook holds it in; they are the best designed fids I have used; they do not hang up in use; no exposed hooks or tape; work great with either class one or class two splices

Nice sturdy set. However the hollowed port is alittle short and does not hold a good amount of cord in the fid. Had to use tape to hold my cord in the fid.

Has been working great for a couple of months. I do occasionally get a strand caught in the seam of the fid but that can’t be helped. Would definitely recommend!
