Our existing strike had a short lip and the latch was striking the wood trim; overtime, it was causing a groove in the trim. This solved the problem and the latch is not sliding over this right in to place. Install was easy using the existing holes, it fit perfectly.

Repainted trim in back entry and was upset to see that within a day the paint had been rubbed off by the door latch hitting the trim. Tried finding a larger plate at my local stores to no avail. Did a search and after numerous measurements, opted for this one.So glad that I did. It arrived earlier than expected and works perfectly. No more damaged paint. Be sure to study the diagrams that show how to measure for the best fit.Highly recommended!

When you have squared off door trim you need and extended strike plate to keep the striker from rubbing and leaving marks on your door trim. There are multiple lengths available. The description of how to pick the correct depth is a little confusing but take your measurements and compare to the sizes available and you should be able to figure it out.

The trim in my home were replaced with thicker ones and the standard strike plates are too shallow. These work well as the extend out the depth of the trim and protect it.
