I am sure this will work great for it's intended use--cutting even pats of butter. But I was making peppermint patties and I wanted to cut my filling in even, nice slices. The filling wasn't soft enough and, if I got it soft enough, it would fall apart when dipped in the chocolate. Experiment failed, but I can still cut butter!

I unwrapped my Costco (blue box, 1 pound, 4 sticks to the box) butter stick and slice directly on to the butter paper wrapper. The slicer, almost but did not completely cut through the stick of butter. I easily flipped the sliced butter along with the paper wrapper and place directly over my glass butter dish. This allowed me to press down on paper until the butter releases perfectly intact onto my dish allowing the butter to not come contact with my open hand. When closed, my glass butter dish lid does not come in contact with the butter. My husband is on a very restrictive diet with CKD (chronic kidney disease) and slice butter allow for portion control. As a time saver, I sliced all four sticks of Costo butter at the same time and rewrap the remaining three sticks and store back in the box for later use. This butter slicer is not flimsy, does exactly as advertise and I couldn't be more please. I recommend to my friends.

I feel the item is a bit overpriced. I thought it included the saucer as in the picture. Evidently it doesn't, therefore the 4 stars. As for the item itself, it appears well made. A press metal base with cutting wires in a continuous loop anchored in hooks much like a hook and aye boot. I don't know the material of its construction. If tin plate, it may rust. If stainless steel it should last forever. The ears on which the user presses may prove to be its weak point. potentially failing after several uses.The usage is fairly straight forward. Always use a chilled butter stick. Not frozen. Unwrap the butter, leaving the wax paper on the bottom surface. Place stick on cutting surface, papered side down. Locate cutter centered over the stick and push, using the ears on the item. It may take considerable pressure to force the wires through the butter. I weigh 180 and I had to put my entire weight on the ears to get the wires through the stick. Even so, it will not cut completely through the stick. That's the reason to leave the paper on the lower surface. With the paper in place turn the stick over to get the paper to the top. Press on the paper surface to complete the cuts. Assuming stick is still firm, you should have a plate full of butter pads. Not professional quality, but good enough for home use

I ordered two of these and they are perfect. I really like these. I did not know that they even existed till I saw a neighbor use one. They are nice and I highly recommend them. You will love it. Let the butter soften just a little bit, but they are perfect, the slice comes out great

Just make sure your block butter is a good temperature for cutting. This is perfect gadget for cutting uniform slices of butter. I totally recommend.

I use to cut the butter by hand and it was very time consuming and the pieces were not uniform. This butter cut is amazing and every piece is unformed which helps me with my COG’s

Used for the first time yesterday. It took a lot of pressure to get through a stick of butter right out of the frig. Next time, I will remove the butter 10 minutes before slicing and also run hot water over the blades before slicing. Product seems to be well made.

Not sure why I ordered it as it is not a necessaryitem but I love the way it cut my butter into sweet little neat tablespoons. I will try it on cheese too.

Lieferung war schnell und pünktlich.Für meinen Bedarf sind die Butterscheiben zu dünn,denn man muss ja die Scheiben auch anrichten können.Ansonsten ein gutes Gerät.

I bought this butter slicer for when I do cooking, it make cutting up butter easy and quickly. Also when we have guests aroundfor a meal, they can have a portion of butter off a dish, instead of taking off a large block of butter/margarine.
