I've purchased other "vintage" lamp sockets. The better ones aren't cheap plastic like this one is. The better ones threads that attach the base of the socket to the threaded nipple on the lamp aren't all messed up by the set screw hole and threads. My biggest complaint is that this thing is so poorly designed. On a quality vintage socket, the ring nut that joins the base to the main part of the socket turns independently of both the base and the socket. This POS has the ring nut as an integral treaded part of the base. This means that once you've attached the cord to the socket and want to assemble it, you have to twist it into the base. What a bad idea, putting all that twisting stress on those wires you just attached. Yes, I paid a little more for a better socket, but not that much more. This thing is masquerading as something it most definitely is not. Almost any cheap (cheaper) replacement lamp socket that just snaps together would be better then this contraption. Yes I used it and yes it works, that's the best thing I can say about it and I would never purchase another.

This item was a nightmare as - I kept ordering pairs of these in gold - but only the first one had the gold coloration I was seeking. The others were obviously from a different manufacturing lot. Lots of legwork to return these on my part. In the end - I came up short $10 bc AMZN said they didn’t receive one that I had asked for a credit on. So much cheap, substandard Chinese product floating around.
