The rubber might be a little stiff, but you wouldn’t want to easy to pull or it wouldn’t hold tight. I actually use this to hold a Murphy bed up and it pulls it and taught.

I chose this pair of rubber toggle-latches for use on an upcoming motorcycle pannier project where I'll be repurposing some old ammunition boxes for use as motorcycle sidebag storage. These should work OK but I caution that they're very, very stiff rubber. I don't have the best upper body strength but I couldn't pull these toggles to any degree of noticible stretch. That may be perfect for some applications but it should be noted that these are very strong toggles. The mounting point of the lower latch will need to be in a position quite close to the hole in the rubber that accepts it as I don't see these stretching more than a few MM from their resting length. The mounts are plastic which is unfortunate but if properly screwed/bolted onto the material they'll be used on, they should be fine as they seem like the high-impact type of plastic. The pair of toggles come with both wood screws and bolts. I'll certainly opt for the bolts.
