Exactly as expected. Thick, durable rubber base. Was too lazy to get staples to refill my dewalt stapler so I managed to attach it with a nail gun due to how thick the rubber is.I needed to cut mine for use and used a nail to pluck the staples from the back of the rubber so I could cut through it easily. You can cut through it without doing this, too, but you’ll want something a little sharper than kitchen scissors, and be careful of invisible pokey staple pieces.

I bought several of these to attach to a wooden frame I made with the intention of creating punch needle rugs, they were easy to cut with sharp scissors to perfectly lay on the sides of the frame and do their job of holding the cloth tight enough for punching. I would definitely recommend in investing in gripper strips for punch needle frames as it is a lot easier and time saving after installing them than to staple cloth onto the frame every single time and then having to remove all the staples each time.
