Wanted something compact enough to install on my small inverter generator but easy to read. This little jewel fit my needs for a very good price. Easy install, I used Gorilla double stick tape for mounting. Input wire just wraps a few times around the spark plug wire and stays put with small zip tie which was provided. Works great and keeps track of service intervals. RPM's are great for monitoring state of tune, happy with purchase...

Bit of a disclaimer, I don't have any way in which to confirm the accuracy.This Runleader Tachometer was purchased to help diagnose some issues with a Coleman Generator. I've not yet isolated the issue, but the tachometer has provided some insights; so worth the money.It's easy to install; wrap a few winding around the spark plug wire.It's easy to operator; power on the tachometer and the motor, then set the tachometer to the correct setting.It's easy to read; the display is clear enough in most light settings to read from a short distance.Results seem to be pretty instantaneous; as the engine revs up or down, the display updates quickly.For the money and value, I recommend this Runleader Digital Tachometer.

My Honda lawnmower seemed to run slow and be difficult to start. I found a YT video that demonstrated how to adjust the governor spring to speed up or slow down the motor. It also said that the RPM's should be set between 2950 and 3100 RPM. So I monkeyed with the bracket and got it going a little faster, and I was pretty happy with it. But it's a walk behind mower, so I had no idea of what the actual RPM's of the engine were.I decided for the sake of my engine to get this tachometer. I got the mower warmed up, and then I put the meter on. I will say that wrapping the wire around the spark plug wire is not the easiest thing. The wire for the tail of the tach is kind of stiff and doesn't want to stay wrapped. The spark plug wire doesn't help matters any, because it's really short and the engine was hot (remember, I warmed it up already). Next time, I think I might get a clothes pin to clip it, but I was able to finally make it stay a couple of turns on the wire.It's a good thing that I measured, because I was running at 3800-3900 RPM. When I put the wire on, the reading I got was in the 1900's, but I knew I was going faster than that. So I knew I had to change the settings from the default. I'm sure running my engine 30% faster than spec isn't great for the long term health of the motor, so now I'm hovering right at 3k. This device helped me get the most life from my lawnmower, which is why I bought a Honda to begin with.One star deducted for the wire being too stiff to stay on easily, but otherwise I'm happy with it. Oh, and it does have a user replaceable battery, which is important for me because I'm only planning on using this once or twice a year. Mine shipped with the battery out, so I had to insert the battery to make it work. But I much prefer that to having a unit that is sealed that I used once before the battery died.

I use these for small engines primarily, and purchased this one to verify and maybe adjust te governor speed on my snowblower. Rated speed is 3600 RPM, and it's tough to get my mechanical shaft-end tach to the drive end of the crank without taking guards off and exposing the spinning bits. Plus the mechanical tach doesn't offer continuous readings; you push the button, and the needle swings up for a couple seconds then stops. Great for adjusting machine speeds, but not nearly as handy as this one with continuous speed readings.I did add a battery charger clamp to the end of the cable, so I could use it as a portable diagnostic tool rather than mounted as a ride-along tach. Just pushed cable down one leg, bent it over the spring where it pivots open/closed, then back up the other leg of the little clamp. Gently squeezed the tabs to hold the wire in place without crushing it. Just place the charge clamp around the plug wire, and it reads perfectly. No need to wrap the sense wire around the plug wire 6x as the instructions suggest.How did the snowblower governor project go? Governor was set for about 3300 RPM, and a little linkage adjustment on the LCT snowblower engine brought that up to about 3650 RPM. Does it throw 10% more snow 10% farther? Here's hoping! I had most of the snow cleared (six neighborhood driveways plus about 5000 square feet of our private street...) before I did the first measurement, and I finished that work before I pulled engine covers off to adjust anything. We're getting sleet and some snow tonight on top of the melt-off and rain from yesterday and last night, so it's more like fused snow on skating-rink ice underneath. Low 20's overnight tonight. Not enough snow to deserve the snowblower, and way too slippery underneath to do much even if there was a bunch more snow.Conclusion: I'd buy this tach again in a heartbeat. Has replaceable battery, compact packaging, and for my use it's the perfect solution at a very reasonable price. For well under $20, I can add it to my tool-a-holic collection with no guilt whatsoever.

Instructions are pretty good. One has to read them and think a little.It seems to work great and was easy to set up. I'm using it on a generator. I wanted to see RPM (curiosity) and to record hours Looks like it is doing what I want at reasonable cost. Oh, almost forgot, one important feature was replaceable battery. I hope my meter will last a while and I don't want to have throw it away in ac couple years because internal battery is dead.The bad so far: battery cover o-ring was damaged and can't be reused

Le tachymètre est facile à monter et à utiliser.....J'ai traduis la notice en Français , placée ci dessous en fin de mes commentaires.- En fait mon moteur est un moteur 2 temps, 1 cylindre , donc le chiffre de réglage est le : 01..Un 4 temps, 1 cylindre le chiffre est : 02, etc ...On appuie sur S1 4secondes et le chiffre O1 apparaît, il clignote, on ne fait rien puis l'écran se remet sur Heure..Vous démarrez le moteur et l'indicateur "compte tours" se met en route automatiquement ..Tout fonctionne bien .- Il suffit de raccorder le câble du Tachymètre au fil de la bougie, faire qq tours bien serrés , attachez le début du câble contre le fil bougie avec un serre flex, faire qq tours bien serrés et terminer avec un collier de serrage serre flex .Je suis très satisfait de mon achat surtout pour le prix..N'oubliez pas de retirer la petite languette plastique de la pile !MANUEL TACHYMETRE MOTEUR EN FRANCAIS :"Après avoir installé la batterie, appuyez complètement sur les boutons S1 et S2, l'écran LCD commencera à afficher 00000-99999 jusqu'à la fin, après 2S, l'écran LCD s'éteindra.Appuyez à nouveau sur le bouton S1 ou S2 pour activer le compteur, ou lorsque le moteur est démarré, il activera automatiquement le compteur, puis l'écran LCD du moteur s'allumera.4. La tabla indica ajuste "03" para motores de un cilindro-4 tiempos. Noten que la inmensa mayorÃa de estos motores (ejemplo: los clásicos motores horizontales Honda o Honda clones Chinos 50 a 125cc) llevan el encendido por magneto que toma los pulsos del sensor del cigueñal. Hay dos pulsos por cada ciclo completo, por tanto usar ajuste "02" para una lectura correcta.
