Works as intended, it was installed on a Husqvarna Enduro 701.

It mostly does what it says. The screen is nicely visible when the backlight is on, and having two separate temperature sensors is handy. I found it also runs on as little as 6 volts external power (though specs say 8-12V) so I can hardwire it on my classic scooter instead of using the button battery. As others have said, the buttons can be a bit hard to press, but my unit also has a flaw in that if turned off it won't turn on again without first removing the battery for 20 seconds to reset it. I plan to just hardwire it to switched power on my scooter, but for others this would be a fatal flaw.Update: dropping it two stars for newly discovered issue. When running off external power, the sensors short out and just say "Err" of bolted onto a grounded surface, which pretty much includes any vehicle's engine block. So the unit won't turn on a second time running on internal battery, but cannot sense temperature of a grounded surface on external vehicle power.. Short of adding a dedicated external battery box or an isolating dc-dc convertor, that pretty much rules out any useful scenario.

I chose this model after trying a different one that didn't work well. I am using this on a boat motor to monitor engine temp. One sensor is from this kit surface mounted on the engine head. The second sensor is from the same manufacturer, purchased separately, and monitors engine exit water temp. The lead wires between the digital display and the sending unit sensor are quite short and limits placement. With the digital display mounted on the helm, the sensor sending units would not reach the motor. Direct correspondence with the manufacturer rep revealed the connection wire could be extended up to a total length of 5 meters without a loss in accuracy. Because the leads are connected by a proprietary plug, I chose to cut, splice, and extend the digital display leads to the plug connections on the sensor sending units with one low voltage 4-wire (2 wires for each temp sending unit) extension. There is a learning curve to program the alarms as the instructions are a bit hard to follow, but they are accurate and do work. The alarm, however, is inaudible when the motor is running. The display is visible and easy to read, even in bright sunlight. Powering the unit from the key-on power supply keeps it from draining the motor battery.

I put the sensor in the head of a car engine. Accurate.

They give you the value with a decimal. Like 254.5f. I really don't need to know the temp to a decimal point, 254 is good enough and it would be easier to read without it. I have it on a motorcycle and it takes me a longer look. I'd like to have 254 in bigger numbers.

The first unit I purchased was essentially useless because the buttons were so hard to press that I couldn't change the display input or configure the device. The manufacturer promptly sent a replacement, explaining that they had modified the design (though I saw nothing different and assumed it was internal) to retain the water-resistant nature of the product while improving the function of the buttons.I mounted this device to the top of the fuel tank on my motorcycle. While I still had to press very hard on the buttons of the replacement device to get them to accept my input, I didn't mind because the device did work and served a unique function that no other device I found would serve at a reasonable price point.I took a 5000-mile motorcycle trip this summer and the device initially served me well, but the lens fogged up from internal moisture after the first rain I encountered, making it very difficult to read. Unlike another aftermarket gauge I use for fuel mixture that also fogs when wet (it doesn't claim to be water-resistant), this device is very, very slow to clear once the lens fogs inside. Also on this trip, the buttons became so hard to operate that the unit is effectively now useless. I don't know if the moisture that's leaked into the unit is the cause for the button failure so I can't say how long they'd work properly in a dry environment.I would recommend this unit for anyone wanting to use it in a dry environment, but for those needing a unit that will survive direct exposure to rain, I'd suggest you keep looking. It's a shame because otherwise, this is a great meter for the price.(the attached photo was taken after the unit had several days to dry out. Most of the moisture inside the lens had dissipated by this point, but there is still enough present to render the device unusable because you can't see the display unless you look at it from just the right angle, looking under the water rather than through it.)

It's easy to install.I'm using it on a boat where I can monitor the engine temp in case of a water impeller failure. It's too bad there isn't an option to have longer wires/extensions so it can go 12+ feet to the dash. The buttons are a bit stiff so the unit is a bit hard to turn off. It would be a great inprovement if you could run it off the ignition switch for the power on/off. It's a nice unit though.
