This kit made it fairly easy for me to build a sturdy gate. Most of the kits of this type have hinges attached and those would not work with the way our fence is constructed. We have 4x4 posts with horizontal 2x4s which are attached to the 4x4 posts and then pickets are attached to the 2x4s. We needed to use strap hinges on the outside to mount the gate. This kit allowed me to construct the gate and then use strap hinges on the outside to make the gate outswing.Everything worked perfectly; I took measurements of opening and where the fence 2x4s were and made the gate match and everything lined up perfectly. (I actually built the gate at a different location, then brought the completed gate to the site and installed.While the braces may not be as thick and heavy as others I've seen, once everything is assembled, the gate is very solid and I doubt it will sag much, if at all. I did use longer screws (2 1/2") than what came with the kit because I figured they would hold better over time. I found the screws in black to match and same diameter as what comes with the kit.I'm very happy with the product and the way the gate turned out, especially since this is the first gate I've ever built.

Asked for replacement for 4 weak/broken brackets but received a free replacement of the entire package with all of the 8 brackets, which is more than expected. Most of the connection points are well welded and look sturdy. More than happy. Thanks.

The brackets are strong and simple to mount. I can hardly notice the weight of the brackets when you move them.

First, I’m an engineer, so I’m particular but the whole point of using such a product is to keep your gate frame boards (or whatever) at a 90 degree angle. You can’t really do that when these aren’t welded to a 90 degree angle. While it doesn’t seem like much of a difference, imagine where the other end of a 6’ 2x4 will end up?The finish and packaging are all nice but pointless when they can’t be used for their true intended purpose. As such, I returned them and purchased a product made by a different company.
