I use it as a monitor for gigs with my blues rock n roll band. We run it from the PA to hear vocals. I use a splitter cable, 2 to 1, so both channels are used on the monitor. We sometimes daisy chain to another monitor via the XLR connection. The monitor is a bit heavy but cranks. It is also a Bluetooth speaker. It could double as an amplifier too although I haven't tried that. Regardless, great monitor.

I'm very happy with these. That's not to say that they don't have their idiosyncrasies. The bluetooth volume is low. You can crank up the volume on the device and speaker and just barely trigger the green signal light. It would also be great if you could use the usb port for a memory stick, but it only works with the Samson wireless mic system. All these issues can be solved by running the speakers off of a small mixer that has bluetooth and usb. Using a mixer also allows you to do some signal eq, which helps fine tune the sound. If I had to do it all over again, I may have gone with the 12", since the price difference is minimal.

As a tip, if you will be using an RCA to 1/4 TRS connection with these, only plug in one of the RCA plugs. With both right and left RCA plugged in there is no low end in the sound.

First off, I’ve always found Samson to make very reliable products.I own the XP 800 PA system and it’s killer for the price along with some Samson mics. So when I thought about using this RS 110 A for my monitoring system I didn’t think twice about purchasing it…BIG MISTAKEThe power section isn’t even close to 175 W RMS. I’d say maybe 50w TOPSAnd I’ve never heard a speaker sound as dark and unclear as this one. I spent two hours tinkering with this to get it to sound somewhat acceptable and I was forced to return it because it was just so awful.Keep in mind I’m a sound engineer with years of experience in live and studio applications and I’ve NEVER heard anything sound as unacceptable as this itemGood riddance
