These are pretty much identical to the cheaper SR850s. The build quality feels the exact same and the audio quality sounds identical. The cord may be ever so slightly more flexible and malleable on the SR860s but it's not something I really noticed until I had both right in front of me and was searching for a difference in build quality. I consider the SR850s the kings of affordable audiophile open-back headphones, so naturally these rank highly as well. Keep in mind these are OPENED-BACK headphones which are the opposite of noise canceling (have no idea why that's in the listing). This basically helps the headphone's achieve a wider soundscape at a much lower cost than an equivalent closed-back pair.I will note, the earpads pictured in my review are NOT the ones that come with the headphones. They are twice as thick and made by TRANSTEK (marketed as compatible with the SR850s). My earpads that came with my SR850s (which feel identical to the ones included with SR860s) lasted about 3 years of heavy everyday use before they were no longer able to be cleaned properly. When that happens it's nice to know there are replacements available. (The replacements are also a substantial upgrade in comfort, though they can be difficult to put on)In short, I would compare the prices of the SR850 and this product and consider if the color swap is worth the extra premium. It was just $40 compared to the $34 at the time of my purchase which seemed justifiable, but I have often seen the SR860s go for $60 and the SR850s go for $45-50. At those higher prices, I would just snag the SR850s and treat yourself to some replacement earpads with the money you've saved.

Like many people before me, I found these through DankPods' numerous videos in which he mentions them. I noticed that these are the SR860s instead of the SR850s, but besides more comfortable earcups and different coloring, I don't believe there's a difference between the two models. For context, my primary drivers are Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, and I run practically all of my headphones out of my MOONDROP Dawn Pro DAC.Pros:- Drivers: These things sound WONDERFUL to me. Vocals and top-end come right out, and in certain tracks (such as Radiohead's "Pyramid Song"), it can sound as though you're right next to the singer in the studio. Bass response is pretty spot-on, too, which is where the "semi-" in semi-open-back really flexes.- Soundstage: As DankPods said, these do feel very open. They're very, I would say, "sweeping". There's a fair amount of sound bleed, but that's to be expected with semi-open-backs, so it's not a mark against them. Synths and instruments designed to layer deep into a track enter beautifully into your ears.- Comfort: The earcups are different than the SR850s in that these ones are a softer fabric material... and WOW, are they comfortable. I've worn them for hours with no need to adjust them.- Adjustability: The SR860s can be easily adjusted thanks to their AKG-esque headband.- Mixing/mastering capability: They're great! Since they're so balanced, they offer a great environment for music-making.- Price point: See the headline. I stand by that claim. The only other contenders in this price range (at least for me) are sub-$25 IEMs and earbuds.Cons:- You might need to get used to them: These headphones are amazing, but at first, I didn't like them all that much. After going through my library for a while, though, their sound really started to captivate me. That's probably a side-effect of using almost exclusively closed-back headphones for most of my life.- Bass-heavy? No: These are very, very well-balanced. Do not expect them to thump with tons of bass. Low-ends on these sound really tasteful and thoughtfully processed instead of "boomy". Still better bass than my AirPods Pro 2, though!- Build quality is slightly iffy: They're well-made and definitely somewhat durable, but they're not *completely indestructably* durable. You get what you pay for, though.tl;dr: Fantastic, well-balanced headphones that are probably the best for under $50. Genuinely excellent.

Like a lot of you, I became interested in Samsons after hearing them copiously recommended on DankPods. Technically he recommended the SR850s, but I loved the red accents on the 860s, plus with a sale and coupon, I managed to grab them for the price of the 850s (about $35). Let me just say that I made off like a bandit at that price. These are a genuine bargain. I love the sound of balanced headphones vs. super bassy ones, and these truly let me appreciate every part of the music. It's hard to describe — you just have to experience it.Now, these are entirely made of plastic, which is why they're so cheap. But they feel well-built and all the moving parts work fine, so I don't really care about the materials. Also, just be aware that these are really headphones meant for listening at home, since they're open-back and don't fold up or anything. As long as you know that ahead of time, you'll be all set.Basically the only caveat is that, as some reviewers have mentioned, the cable is stupidly long and can't be replaced. I ended up having to bind it up with twist ties so it wouldn't drag on the ground. Other than that, these are absolutely amazing, and at this price, you have no reason not to try them out.
