I initially had doubts about this product when I ordered it --- I feared it would not work properly with my IBM Model M keyboard, which tends to use more electricity than other keyboards. (Some USB ports and adaptors don't follow the spec and end up providing less electricity than needed.)However, it worked perfectly with both my Model M and my Dell AT101W. My Linux system recognized it and let me use it immediately --- no mess with drivers or anything of that sort.

It appears that this adapter is sold under many brand names. This PS2 to USB adapter works with our older Honeywell Metrologic Voyager model barcode scanners. The adapter includes an inline circuit that facilitates data communication. In the photos, it appears that the circuit cover may be molded and vulcanized onto the cables, but it is actually a plastic snap-fit clamshell that covers the circuit. The problem is that the case does not provide any significant strain relief, leaving the solder points of the thin wires at the circuit board subject to stress. If the cables are stressed or twisted enough, it can cause broken connections, rendering the adapter inoperable. ( I know this from first-hand experience). This should not be an issue where the cables are installed and remain static, but could be a problem if the adapter subject to repeated movement and stress. You could apply zipties and/or strong tape to prevent this, if you don't mind a less attractive adapter.

I needed an adapter in order to use an older multi-media keyboard with my new computer. The first adapter I tried didn't work, so based on the reviews I ordered this. At first I thought it wasn't going to work either. I plugged the keyboard into the keyboard plug and it wouldn't work. I tried a different computer and still no luck. By accident, I found out if I plugged it into the mouse adapter side first, then plugged it into the keyboard that it would work fine. The only time I've had to repeat that is when I had the computer unplugged from the power. I don't know why this works, but I'm very glad it does !

Worked great for converting old style PS2 mouse and keyboard to USB. Simply attach the adapter to both mouse and keyboard then plug into your computers USB input( I connected to theUSB 2.0 input). Great price too, considering I didn’t have to buy a new mouse and keyboard for my PC build!

Hooked it up to a Dell laptop with Win XP pro. Keyboard worked in the BIOS setup screen, but when Windows booted there was no response from the keyboard. I tried different USB ports and power down and up multiple times, but got Nothing. If it cost more, I would request a refund, but for less than $4, it's not worth messing with.Update: I bought another adapter from StarTech and it worked fine.

This did just what I needed it to do. After having coffee spilled on a new keyboard, then rendering it useless, I had an older keyboard in storage that could be used if it had a USB connection. This solved the problem and saved a little money. My old PS/2 connection keyboard connected right up to a newer computer's USB port. Worked like a charm!

I hooked this up to my computer so I could use my favorite Keyboard only to find that the mouse worked fine but the keyboard didn't work at all, so I had to go back to the way is was before, I was trying to eliminate some wires. Thanks anyway,Songbird
