I believe this chain was supposed to be copper-dipped, and I received a brass tone, but that's fine. The spirals and hooks are included and the chain is free of corrosion and tangles. This price was half what my usual supplier charges for the same supplies, and the quality is identical. You should know that even old-timey hardware stores don't often have sash chain on hand in large quantity -- figure on roughly 6 feet per sash, so 12 feet for one double-hung -- and the big-box stores seem to stock only commercial size, which is too wide for residential pulleys. And forget trying to track down the hooks and spirals. No one will know what you're talking about. For those who've never re-chained their sashes, it's SIMPLE, though time-consuming, and extremely rewarding. Just have patience with the initial puzzles and unexpected detours. You'll get better and faster after you've done four or five. If you're missing sash weights, check between the basement studs, because sometimes the sash fairy stows them there when the original cord breaks. Also, they're listed on auction sites. Just be sure to get the correct size. Finally, be sure to fix the spirals with screws, and let no part of the spirals stick out of their holes. (The spirals tend to be smaller than the holes that once accommodated knotted rope, and if a spiral gets out of place, you must take apart all your work and start again. Boooo.)

Easy to work with and has plenty of hooks and springs. Nice color too. As a quality contractor I'm always looking for better - not cheaper. I'm so glad I found this chain. I've done 8 double hung windows so far and love it. It is actually easier to work with than rope. I did tape the chain to an old piece of the rope I was replacing and used the rope as a guide to pull the chain over the pulley and down to the sash pocket opening.

I use this chain restoring double hung windows in Victorian homes. I know with this chain the windows are ready for the next 100 years.
