This controller card worked right out of the box. No problem with it reading my large 6 TB HDD.Because the PCI slot was right next to the video card slot I had to use a special cable to go from the PCI-E port to the card. Its a very tight fit but so far I am not seeing any negative effects in data transfer.

Not to much to this ... very slow transfers but worked for the application I needed it for. Basically a throw away device.

Installed card. Once the Asmedia drivers in CD's SATA folder were installed and system rebooted, then worked great.

Only having one lane of PCIE 2.0 kinda limits this card, you cannot hit the top SATA III speed of 6Gbp/s with only 5Gt/s from the one lane... so I wouldnt use this with a fast SSD.It's still really useful if you have multiple HDD disks and old 5.25" SATA drives. My DVD drive wont work with my motherboard SATA no mater what bios settings I use, but if you flip the switch on this unit into IDE mode my DVD drive works with this card (which is good I have two DVD reader/writers in the same case, moving them to this card frees up my motherboard SATA slots for faster SSDs)The Heatsink gets kinda warm, don't buy this if you want to use a riser and move the card somewhere in your case that doesn't have airflow, I think it would get too hot.For Xubuntu 20 drivers come with the kernel, worked out of the box. For Windows7 I had to use the CD disk that comes with this box. I uploaded this CD to the internet archive at (archiveorg)/details/ssu-driver-disk if you don't have a computer with a working CD reader anymore.

Getting very inconsistent speeds when moving files around to drives that are on the same controller as well as across the network. You MUST install the drivers for all 4 ports to work. May buy a different card as the transfer speeds (around 8Mbps between two ssd on same card).

There's no drivers online for this product and windows isn't seeing the SSDs plugged in. It came with a mini CD but no one uses CDs anymore.
