(Stihl 16" version reviewed, which may be larger than original.)This is a reasonably priced and functional set, including a bar, two chains, a bar cover, and some accessories. The bar fits properly on my Stihl MS180C-BE. The chains are low kickback-style. They don't include the extra oiling dents on the drive side that Stihl OEM chains have, but stay adequately oiled when used with the included bar. The chains are a semi-chisel design, which cuts less aggressively than full chisel chains, but should remain sharp longer and are less prone to kickback... good for casual users. They are adequately sharp and remain that way after several hours of use on hardwood. Many of the Stihl models listed for this replacement set originally use a .043 gauge chain and bar. This set is .050 gauge, and will work as long as you use the new bar and chains together. DO NOT mix .050 gauge chains with .043 gauge bars or vice versa. They will either bind, jam, and run too hot or be too loose and wear badly. Dangerous either way.If you use this .050 set with a saw that originally used .043, it may bog the saw down more, but will cut more aggressively. I have no problem using them and don't really notice much difference in how the saw runs with the larger chain.

There is a guide screw on my Stihl that is supposed to guide the bar using the slot in it. However, the slot is too narrow and the screw does not fit. Even if I replaced that screw, the slot in the bar is not long enough to allow for proper adjustment. The bar is also thinner than my current bar which may or not be a problem. This may work on other saws though. The chains come with nylon straps and clips (for hanging??) and the kit includes a pair of cheap gloves and a bar cover. My kit only included 2 chains which has affected my review.

I am no professional, but was really wearing down my Stihl chainsaw (14 inch bar) and was thinking that it would be nice to add a couple inches to the bar as well as have a fresh chain (or two). This kit had all the fixins'! New bar is great and will be a good addition to have as the primary and keeping the 14 inch as an alternative. Inevitably I will either bend or get one stuck and need a second. Two chains is great for use going forward, and the kit comes with an bar / chain cover so you can protect your new bar, as well as some gloves for handling the chain. Haven't really worked it out much yet, but did hook it on and fire it up and it seems to be running well / cutting well after initial use. Happy and satisfied!

Nice bar and chain. The other thing that I love is that it came with a bar protector. I needed one for my old mcculloch mini-Mac 6 bar and this fit perfectly. I also added a a clip to the protector to be able to connect with the chainsaw handle. If I didn’t do that, the protector would come off. The protector is very this plastic and a bit too light weight to protect it from a large drop, or anything falling on to it. But something is better than nothing at all. Overall quality is good and well worth the price.

This fits my little Stihl saw and works actually better than expected. I use this saw for cleaning up a limb or small tree occasionally and it is always nice to have back up chains and bar so not needing to stop to sharpen the chains if I should happen to hit a stone. I haven't put them to the ultimate test of cutting large amount of winters wood or such, but that isn't the intention. I am sure they won't outlast the more expensive chains and bars but for the price you can't go wrong. I would rather buy for less then, if I ruin a chain totally, I'm not out a ton of money.
