It's an ideal component to add to your emergency preparedness kit for use during natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes. Simply attach the filter to a standard faucet tap or to a hose bib spigot, turn on the water, and filter into your clean container. The TAP can be used to filter up to 500 gallons per day to an incredibly clean 0.1-micron standard. The small lightweight TAP features a 0.1-micron absolute filter that removes 99.99999% of bacteria (Salmonella, Cholera, Leptospirosis, E. coli), 99.9999% of protozoa (Cryptosporidium and Giardia), and 100% of microplastics — exceeding EPA recommendations for removal rates (independent testing laboratory Hydration, LLC.; microbiological report S05-03). The Sawyer TAP Water Filter is a great choice for relief agencies or support groups traveling to areas where the water source is compromised or in question, or when you need ultra-pure particle and bacteria filtration. It's also great for use at campgrounds, festivals, events, in RVs, and for domestic and international travel. Chemicals, electricity, and batteries are not required. The inline filter fits tap size 17mm to 20mm (11/16" to 3/4"); hose bibs (garden hose spigot); and some (not all) faucet aerators. Included with the Sawyer TAP filter is a backwash adapter, threaded spigot adapter, dual threaded adapter, tap gauge, and a 2-foot-long extension hose for use in a shallow sink. Sawyer makes some great filtration products. I've tried several other Sawyer models (Micro, Mini, Select) and filter brands (Katadyn, Platypus, MSR) and the "full size" Squeeze filter, combined with a generic 2L plastic water bottle, is still the most reliable water filtration system for backpackers who are weight conscious. Sure, there are other brands, or other Sawyer models that weigh less or boast higher flow rates, but 10 years later, this is still my go-to filter.Pros: Widely available and reasonably priced wherever you're traveling to hike in the US. Easy to use and maintain, adaptable, and has a suitable flow rate.Cons: Be careful not to let it freeze up. The mylar squeeze bags are garbage. It's better to attach the filter directly to a 2L bottle or pick up a Vecto wide-mouth storage bag from CNOC, thread the filter onto the bag and squeeze filtered water into a 2L bottle. This is not ideal for group use due to the flow rate, but it can be set up as a gravity filter from a large storage bag at camp.

The results are very good. I think every household should have one for emergencies, to travel with or simply to help with the water quality at home.

I live kinda remotely so I keep a backup water supply just in case I lose my well or electricity to run the well pump. My daily water tastes fine as long as it goes through my treating system. But lose that and the taste is not the greatest.I’ve used Sawyer filters for years for backpacking and camping. But this one allows you to collect a lot of water in a short period of time. You don’t have to worry about bacteria, E Coli, salmonella giardia, etc.If you keep up with the news, we are now drinking and eating micro plastics as well as the “forever chemicals†(PFAs). Sawyer takes care of the micro plastics but not the PFAs, nor heavy metals, arsenic, lead, much less taste and odor.You really need a carbon filter to take care of all of that crap. So I buy the Platypus Carbon Element here on Amazon and place it inline but downstream of the Sawyer filter. (See photo as example of setup)What you get is some of the best tasting water you’ve ever had. You can forget about buying bottled water anymore. I highly recommend this setup to anyone and everyone.

I live in an older house built in the 70s and the water is high in minerals...this cleans it, and water tastes better after filtered.

I recently bought this for my trip to mexico. I went to a number of hostels and the filter fits most of the taps that I was exposed to. I find it easier to use the filter without the adapters. It may not be the right thing to do and may wear the product faster, but that is what I found.

This is a great item to have when you travel or during boil water alerts. It’s very easy to use and the price is great. It’s hard to find a better filter with features Sawyer provides.

Ich habe den Filter nun seit Monaten im Einsatz, weil ein Hochwasser unseren Hausbrunnen verunreinigt hat. Funktioniert super, habe schon fast 2000 Liter gefiltert. Bei regelmäßigem Rückspülen bleibt die Durchflussleistung erhalten.Kleiner Tipp: Man sollte den Filter vor dem Rückspülen mit Gefühl ausklopfen, dann lösen sich die Partikel darin besser.
