Schilke does it again - this thing (31C2) is amazing. I have been a longtime, exclusive Schilke mouthpiece user (frequently use a 27, 29, and 32) - I haven't found another mouthpiece that holds a candle to them. This one is no different - it is a beast. I could tell on the first few notes out of the box that this was going to be my new favorite. The tone is dark, warm, and round - the low, middle, and upper registers are all easily accessible. The low register is not as good as on the 32, BUT I am impressed. I do not feel like five stars are enough.

Professional horn player here. This mouthpiece is a great choice for anyone looking for a good middle-of-the-road workhorse. It serves all skill levels well and offers pretty good security on a wide register. This is a great option for anyone looking to get away from the mouthpiece that came with the horn, but unsure of what to get next.Ultimately, a player could use this from beginner to a professional career, or start with it and shop around later for something else.This is a great tool to have in a mouthpiece collection.

This was recommended by my daughter's music teacher. She is a beginning French Horn player and this mouthpiece has served her well. It is comfortable and easy to clean. Best price we could find was on Amazon.
