I bought because I needed to change some reels to different weight lines and didn't want to throw the original fly lines away. This does the job - relatively quickly and well. A little bit fiddly as the locking "cams" may not stay in, but nothing to prevent it from performing the job. Allows you to remove or reinstall fly lines by yourself. i used a vice, screwdriver and some shop cloths to hold tension on lines when installing a line off the spool. quick, easy and it works.

Works very well and easy to use. Bundles your fly line in a nice, storable coil.You'll need to provide your own ties, but that's no big deal.

I agree with other review that said it's great but expensive for plastic. I am also a little concerned about durability. Will see.

The two halves of the winder and the cardboard “packaging†arrived as 3 separate pieces in an unopened mailing pouch.Rating will be improved if this is resolved with zero hassle or expense to me.

Only downside is you need to keep something like pipe cleaners to tie up the line before removal from the regulator. But if you keep the line box with that crap you’re golden.

A great product for winding line off a reel spool. Does a great job, is compact, easy to use. My only complaint is SA must think that everyone who fly fishes is a millionaire. For what it is It is very expensive. Four pieces of plastic and a vinyl band for $30 bucks. LOL

This is a completely unnecessary item. Just use the plastic spool your line came on originally. Take a screw and a piece of dowel to put a crank on the spool. Wind away.

Great portable line winder. Very well made and thought out. Although easy to assemble/disassemble, it doesn't come apart halfway through!I've just changed a couple of fly lines. Normally, without a spare reel, this would have been difficult to achieve without at least one bird's nest - with this gizmo it was a breeze!
