This is not the best or nicest disc cutter, but its reasonably priced and it works just fine. I've had mine for about 4 months, and I've cut silver, bronze, and copper with it. I've used the Swanstrom brand disc cutters also, and they do cut a little easier because of their angled cutting edge, but this one is a lot cheaper and like I said, works fine. You might have to hit it with the hammer an extra time or two compared to the swanstrom one, but who cares? The discs that are made are indistinguishable.If you haven't used a disc cutter before, be sure to do the following:1. Lubricate the punch with either wax or some kind of solid cutting lube2. Only use a brass hammer: a steel one will mushroom the top of the punch and then it won't fit through the hole.3. When you place the sheet of silver or whatever in the device for cutting, place a small piece on the opposite side from the hole you're using, to keep the two disc cutter wheels parallel. This allows the punch to pass straight through.

The unit works very well. I found the larger discs a bit harder to cut, but that is par for the course on most disc cutters. I have owned 4 disc cutters, and this one works the best of any I have used. All of the cylinders were sharp and cut with reasonable ease. I also found that locking handle works well. One thing that I noticed is how compact this particular disc cutter is! With as little room as I have to work, it is a gem regarding space. I wish that I could center interior holes a bit better, but that is also understandable at this reasonable of a price.It worked as expected if not better, overall. If you are looking for disc cutter below the $100 mark, you found it. Unless you want to cross the $$$ threshold with a disc cutter that costs as much as an ex-spouse, the one from Sona Enterprises is great.

I like the price and the quality. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that the handle gets in the way of two holes when it's tightened. It would be great one could push a button and detach the top of the handle. There is a button but it doesn't seem to do anything.I'm punching 24 ga. copper and cutter works like a charm.

I purchased the item directly from Amazon. The one they sent did have a RUBBER BASE. (This was unclear from the photos). The item has a BOLT in place for keeping the item together and low-profile for shipping. The BOLT must be REMOVED with a 17mm SOCKET or ADJUSTABLE WRENCH. The HANDLE can be screwed in where the BOLT was and will raise and lower the mechanism. Remember the pieces has TWO SIDES. One side is SHARP for CUTTING and one side is BEVELED for STAMPING. Don’t forget to get a BRASS HAMMER and TIN SNIPS. You may need some heavy duty PLIERS if you’re working with the smaller sizes to remove the piece after cutting a disc.

It works just fine. I did remove the springs so I could get the cutter out easier. Once in a while they stick. It just made it easier for me to get the cutter off with the springs out. They do come out with the springs in but not as quick as I would like. I do like this item and I would recommend it.

After using 3 times, the edges of my silver discs are horrible. Useless. Wish I had used it more right after I bought it. I would have returned it. Now I’m out of 121 bucks. My fault.

I like the thing but it was supposed to come in a wooden box - no box and I could use one to keep it in. Bummer

It's not great but it's a big improvement over the old ones. I received no instructions so I did not know how to put the handle on or how to get the pieces apart to put the metal in or how to clean the thick grease out of it. I worked with it an hour or so, and finally got it to work. Just like my old one, I could not get the metal or cutter out after I got my disc cut. After I few tries, it works better now.

I don't know if the product I received is defective, but this disc cutter does not work well at all. I have tried it with multiple mallets, with copper, brass and silver in various gauges and on top of different surfaces with very little luck. It takes as many as 20 blows to try to push a circle out and it creates a domed and scratched circle. The punches get jammed in the holes every single time and I have to use another rod to pound them out of the hole. I have set it up properly, and am using it correctly. I believe the whole device is misaligned and the punches are not lining up properly. Would reccomend going with a better quality tool.

Excellent disc cutter, I've used a number over the years and this one is holding up really well. The alignment on mine is good, though I always recommend always putting a "shim" if the same material you are trying to cut on the opposite side of the disk you are cutting. I've been using it steadily on brass, copper and even fine silver. I put a copper sheet below the cutter to protect the faces of the punches as I knock them through. I attached a picture of a set of rings I made using round dapping punches as "centering punches".

I'm giving this product a two star because punch and base not aligned properly. The punch hits the edge of base, if it was aligned I would love it.
