I have had multiple knock-off versions and none of them compare to the Original VICK'S Bits - they are just far superior. the steel quality and bit quality are remarkable. I have burnt out several knock-offs in under 1000 holes, Vicks bits start needing maintenance at 10000 plus holes. As in cleaning out the dust inside, check the spring and the way you go.

I have used these for years to install commercial door hardware. This product is a classic that always works well. I have had several of them. If you are going to buy one however make sure it is the Vix-Bit brand. None of the knock offs hold up even close. Some of them the bits aren't replaceable.

I work in commercial construction and Vix bits are the best bits you can buy, they are pricey but they will last you decades.

These are a real tool for real professionals or anyone else that likes a tool that does what it is designed to do, does it well and repeatedly. I have unfortunately bought knock offs in the past and was disappointed when they stopped working after 10 or fewer hinges. These are heavy duty with a strong spring that does not fatigue.

I use this bit on NYC commercial trim jobs hinging solid doors for knock down frames. I only use the smooth shank bits because the impact guns will break the bit mechanism over time.

Vic Tool has always built a quality tool and these are no exception.I use this tool to pilot drill hinge holes in heavy duty commercial hinges and they work perfect, would recommend this product. Don.
