About this item

  • TANK STABILIZATION: Seachem Stability will rapidly and safely establish the aquarium biofilter in freshwater and marine systems, thereby preventing the #1 cause of fish death: "new tank syndrome".
  • TREATMENT: Stability is formulated specifically for the aquarium and contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.
  • BACTERIA GROWTH: The necessary conditions for the growth of Stability's bacteria strains encompass a very broad range. When other bacteria begin to die off (usually from high organic loads caused by the unknown death of an organism), Stability simply becomes more effective.
  • USE: Shake Seachem Stability well before use and turn off UV/ozone filter. Use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 40 L (10 US gallons) on the first day with a new aquarium. Then use 1 capful for each 80 L (20 US gallons) daily for 7 days. Fish and other aquatic species may be introduced at any time as long as dosage is maintained for 7 days.
  • SAFE: The bacteria employed by Stability are non-sulfur fixing and will not produce toxic hydrogen sulfide. Stability is completely harmless to all aquatic organisms as well as aquatic plants, thus there is no danger of overuse.

For over three decades, Seachem has been a company rooted in sound science. Our experience in the hobby and an educated staff of chemists and biologists are part of the package when you purchase Seachem products. Seachem remains as one of the few surviving independent and privately owned pet care companies. Seachem is owned and operated by
hobbyists. All of our employees are hobbyists who maintain aquariums at home and at the office. Seachem itself was started because one such passionate hobbyist - Dr. Leo G. Morin (Founder) - recognized that the available solutions to aquarists problem wanting. This resulted in Seachem’s very first product: Cupraplex (today known as Cupramine). Over thirty years later Seachem is still approaching old problems in a new way.
Seachem’s philosophy is that the knowledgeable hobbyist makes the best customer. This is reflected in solid and reliable customer education and support as well as products proven in science and performance. While Seachem has grown rapidly into a national and international firm, it retains the culture of a small company and is readily available to its customers.

It works and that’s all I need. I trust Seachem and have been using their products for years. I never lost a single fish while cycling my tank with Seachem stability. Make sure to buy Prime because it will help you with ammonia spikes. Fish in cycle isn’t recommended but it can be done with right knowledge and right products.

Big bottle lasts for a long time, always works great, would be better if it had a pump attached to it.

I'm sure Seachem Stability works well to stabilize and maintain a biofilter as it's advertised, but don't believe the hype that it will instantly cycle your biofilter. Sure, it can help get things off the ground by seeding the filter media with bacteria, but don't expect a colony of nitrifying bacteria in 24 hours or something ridiculous. When used with Seachem Prime you could probably reasonably perform a fish-in cycle in 7-10 days, but I'm in the camp that believes a fishless cycle with ammonium chloride and live plants is ideal. Having said that I found significantly better results using Fritz TurboStart 700 to kick off my nitrogen cycle. Stability didn't get me any results after a week using their recommended loading dose and maintenance dose. I'm somewhat certain it actually gave me a surface biofilm that I've never experienced before when using it to start a nitrogen cycle.Once the cycle has kicked off, I've diligently used Stability to 'maintain' my biofilter by adding it with water changes and stocking new animals. It's never given me problems, but it's honestly difficult to gauge how well it performs as there's no water test that can be done to see what kind of impact it makes to an already established tank. I suppose if you have a catastrophic crash in your biofilter or perhaps overload it you could measure its before-and-after performance with ammonia and nitrite tests, but thankfully I haven't experienced anything like that. I'll continue to use Stability, Prime, and Pristine in maintenance doses as suggested because as far as I know, it's working as intended, and making changes to a stable environment is a recipe for disaster. I just haven't had luck with it kick-starting the nitrogen cycle. For that I'd put my faith in Fritz TurboStart (or FritzZyme)

Bought this because I was having trouble cycling my 3 gallon, heated/filtered betta tank (with him in it), and kept getting high ammonia levels, but no nitrites or nitrates, despite frequent partial water changes. And always ending up with cloudy water (despite using a different brand of water conditioner). I also bought Prime.I like how Stability can be used daily, and with Prime. My only complaint is that it's hard to figure out exactly how many drops of Stability to use if you have a smaller tank, without doing tons of internet research. I ended up determining that I needed to use only 1.5 ml initially, then .75 ml for 7 days in my case, to help boost the 'good' bacteria my tank needs in order to break down the ammonia. I use a 1ml syringe, but you could also use an eye dropper you can buy at any dollar store. If you use a dropper, a 3 gallon tank would use 10 drops per gallon initially, then 5 drops per gallon daily for 7 days (if you're in the same predicament as me). Then use it monthly or with each water change. Just be sure to shake the bottle well before use, and add the stability to the filter, not the general tank water. Apparently it works better that way, but Prime can be added to clean water changes OR directly to the tank if needed. Our betta seems to be tolerating both products well, and something has kept the ammonia level controlled finally. He seems to be happier now too, so I'm happy.Since using both Seachem Prime and Seachem Stability, my tank is clearer than its EVER been, and I don't know which product is helping with that, but it's wonderful!!

"Seachem Stability: Gladness in the Water!" This powerful 2-liter tank has completely changed my aquarium. My tank is now perfectly balanced since I added Stability, and the fish seem happy and more vibrant. The liquid formula makes dosing very easy, and you can see effects in just a few days. It has worked well both when setting up the tank for the first time and when doing maintenance. Seachem Stability is now my go-to product for keeping water safe. It is a trusted companion for anyone who loves aquariums and helps keep the ecosystem healthy and thriving. A must-have for my fish-keeping routine!"
