This is a rubber material. OEM was plastic and I think superseded by metal. Given that these are split O rings, it is unlikely they would survive had I tried to install them. Not gonna risk it with hours of work just to disassemble and reassemble again. DO NOT BUY. Pay the money for OEM and save money by saving time and headache.

These are exactly the same as OEM but at a fraction of the cost. Just be careful installing them cuz they are very brittle, hard plastic and they break very easily.

Finally, these rings are identical dimensions to the VW originals for a Mk5 GTI with the BPY engine. Perfect fit and codes are gone. Don't waste time with the other non original parts if you have this model, I bought two other chinese sets that were too big and broke instantly.

Ordered to fix the cam cover seals and ordered these to replace the plastic ones. These came and are rubber. Will not work.

Worked as advertised on my 06 BPY engine. I even had to dismantle camshaft cover again to replace camshaft adjuster and the rings were all intact after 100 miles.
