I got this for my old Singer 27 treadle sewing machine since there are no marked seam guides. Since the entire machine is metal the magnet will stay down anywhere on it. The magnet is extremely strong considering it was only $5 and doesn't budge at all. The plastic on the ruler is thick and should last a while. I doubt there is any difference between this one and the Madam Sew one that's currently $12.Some reviews mention that you can't get the magnet close enough on some of the smaller guides but you can turn it to the side. There is a slanted side on the magnet that allows you to use the smaller measurements :)All in all, great little product and a great small cheap gift or stocking stuffer! It ships quick too, I got it the next day and i live in a very rural area.

I got this for my daughter who is just beginning to learn the sewing machine. It helped her SO much with getting straight seams. My only complaint is that it doesn’t work well for smaller seams because my machine is not magnetic in the spot where the guide would be placed. That may just be an individual machine issue though. I personally don’t see myself using it, but this is great for beginner sewers!

There were negative reviews on the magnet strength in the seam guide. The one I received was very strong and I can hardly move it. Works great and the seam template is great quality as well.

The seam guide ruler is accurate and easy to read/use. Totally worth the price just on its own. However, the magnetic guide is weak and wonky, and it slides around on the machine on its own until it finds a "sticky" spot. The magnet is too weak to hold it in one place. Would NOT recommend. However, still worth buying to get the ruler for cheap! Just plan to replace the magnetic seam guide with a better one separately.

Seam guide has good magnetic hold. Not sure about this seam guide. Doesn't come with instructions and is simple enough it wouldn't seem to need one but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly.
