If you consider the materials (7-ply birch) used and solid construction, these cabinets offer great value. You would double the price for a similar (or lesser) cab made by one of the major brands (and most often a new one would include a speaker, which might not be exactly what you want in it either). And you are likely to spend more than this price for (time and) materials to build your own. I put a Weber Vintage Series 12A125-A AlNiCo in mine. With that installed, it is a relatively light cabinet with nice, warm and clean tones. I am pleased.

A lot of folks have taken the time to describe these cabinets and it is helpful to read the reviews. 1. The price is as good as it gets. 2. Build quality is solid but the hardware is pretty cheap stuff (understandably give the price of this nice cabinet). 3. You'll likely want to make a modification for best performance. Front mounted speakers are not a great idea, but you can easily pop out the T nuts (recommended because they are really cheap) and replace them with a bit of cleanup on the tolex in front for rear mounting. Buy higher quality screws and T nuts, put the T nuts on the front and rear mount your speaker. I used 8-32 x 1-1/2" screws with 1 flat and 1 lockwasher per fastener behind the speaker gasket which will work with any Celestion or Eminance speaker. Overall a very good deal and the wood work is quite good at this pricepoint.

Im going to mention the bad first, because some people may not be okay with this. Over the last two years I have bought three of this exact same cab for three different kinds of speakers depending on how I'm feeling or what band I'm playing with. Each cab sounds and feels the same, but the build quality and design are not consistent. The first cab was a more confidently designed and solid box, large supports glued into the inside corners and the back was part of the enclosure, the tolex also wasnt glued in the edges properly, oh and no mounting screws [this is disclosed on the seismic website]. The second one was the same but the grill fit a little looser and the supports on the inside were not present, same tolex issue, and again no screws. The third one showed a return of the supports although smaller but now the back was removable and screwed in, but not cut to fit snugly, so it looks a little wonky but the tolex was glued superbly but the staples and other metal areas were rusted, however it did come with screws this time, but i wish I had known it would because i bought a bag of them on ebay when i bought this cab to save myself a trip to home depot when it arrived. All three cabs still look great and sound AMAZING. Based on stage appearance, portability and sound, as well as ease of installation and customization [i removed the seismic logos and put my own custom logo on the cabs easily], THIS IS THE BEST OPEN BACK 1x12 YOU WILL FIND. Just dont expect consistency when buying more than one.

I am re-writing my review after figuring out the mounting a bit better and am adding a star. First of all, front-loading is non-trivial for a guitar speaker. The cork gasket is on the front of the speaker because they are all intended for rear loading, and it is very difficult to find a replacement gasket designed for the typical Celestion-type speaker. The unit came only with M4 screws, the heads of which are too small to secure a speaker. So you pretty much have to find fender washers and other fasteners on your own. The vendor has behaved in what is to my opinion an untrustworthy manner, labeling this product as containing flammable liquids and gasses to prevent returns. All in all, unless this vendor changes his ways, you are better off buying a loaded speaker, throwing away the stock speaker, and loading your high end speaker in its place. Sad, but seemingly true. If you want to spend more dollars on a more boutique unloaded speaker, check out Mojotone.

When I very impressed when this arrived. Well packaged and well built. The quality does not come through in the pics but I was impressed with the wood, wrap and cover. It is really a nice piece of art and love the color of the grill, changing it up from all black. I put a Celestion redback in the cabinet and it has a great tone and very tight. I did see the reviews regarding the screws provided. They fit but go to far into the front of the cabinet. I would suggest a screw about 1/2 inch shorter and maybe black in color and/or put small black caps or covers in the front so you can't see them. When you put the mesh cover on, you can't see them anyway, but would be nice to not have them stick out. Overall, a great product. A bit expensive but well made.

The cab is solid and heavy. It's surprisingly deep, almost a perfect cube. I have no gripes with that fact, since it sounds very good with the speaker I chose, a Cannabis Rex. Wiring the speaker was easy, however the drive-in nuts for attaching the speaker weren't put in precisely enough: I had to attach the speaker using only three of them, which is tight enough for my medium volume needs, but really kind of unacceptable. The round opening in the inside board that holds the speaker is very rough and not sanded or smoothed in any way. Using this cab without the the front grill (which you may want to do for closer miking) is not an option unless you don't mind a very sloppy look. I tried to cut off the cheap looking plastic plate carrying the Seismic Logo, but it was glued on so tight that I tore into the fabric. All in all, I'm happy about a good sounding, affordable cab, and I'm glad I'm not gigging a lot these days, because this thing is really heavy.

As a speaker box, these cut it. They're awkward but light. As a product, not so much. The screw holes come covered in vinyl and have to be found and cut to allow a screw to secure the speaker.Out of the two units I bought, I received one without the velcro attaching the grill cloth to the cabinet. This is unacceptable for any product at any price. Overall, fit, finish and quality seem decent, but the sloppy workmanship and lack of attention to detail are very disappointing.
