I have a pair of nice 12" monitor speakers, but I eventually got tired of hauling them out to gigs as they weigh nearly 30lbs each and occupy a lot of space during transport. These 8" Seismic Audio speakers weigh less than 17lbs each and both of them together occupy about the same amount of space as one of my 12" monitors. Carrying them a breeze. They can be used vertically if you are really short of stage space, but they work best when placed horizontally as monitors. Efficiency is good, the amp we use to drive stage monitors is not very powerful (about 75W/channel RMS) but we have never run into a situation where we had to turn the volume all the way up, even outdoors. The sound quality is decent, the horns do not sound too harsh. Low frequency response is a bit lacking - though that is to be expected due the size of the drivers and the enclosure, and doesn't really matter for monitor use, especially if your base player has a good amp. These can probably be used as main speakers in a small (e.g. coffee shop) of gig if you put them on 4' poles.

So, I just got these this morning, and just finished a small Birthday party!! Poled them with my SA 18 subs, ran them as highs thru my Peavey crossover and blasted them with 500 watts on a Behringer amp!! They rocked!!! No garble no clip, just sweet highs!!! What do you guys put in them? Gonna buy another set, ASAP!!!
