If you are interested in clean, clear and crisp with a large soundstage, these are an excellent buy. I am a Sennheiser fan for the large soundstage they provide. I listen to symphony, opera, chamber music, movie soundtracks, jazz and pop/rock. These deliver a fair rendering of the EQ and mix the sound engineers intend. Bass heads need not investigate these. You will be disappointed with the bass if you like thumping. These provide true bass as if you are at a live performance.Symphonies/opera/chamber music: Wonderful wide sound stage with excellent separation and true to live performance sound.Jazz: Intimate with good separation and clarity from all instrumentsVocals: Definitely leans towards mid and mostly treble.Rock/Pop: Drums (especially cymbals) and vocals get the forefront.Overall, the treble is emphasized and these are not the usual consumer "V" EQ with the bass more towards flat with quick response. In the end, it is about your personal taste. Musicians and audiophiles will enjoy the clarity offered at this low price point. Warmth is in the performance, not masked by the driver in any way. These are very light and comfortable. Seal with the silicone tips was best for me as with most IEM's and buds. I tried some comply tips that came with my RHA's and they add some warmth due to the foam and shape of the canal on the tip. The IE40 have their own detachable cable connector making them only compatible with Sennheiser cable and the earpieces not compatible with other cables.I own the CX300-ii, RHA MA350, RHA MA390, RHA MA650 and Audio Technica AR3. I also tried the Shure SE215, Etymotic ER3SE and ER3XR, RHA T20 wireless, and One More Triple Driver. The Shure are warmer with more bass and offer a great balance for the price now including Bluetooth 5.0 that was excellent. Etymotic would be the winner for sound if I could stand the driver in my canal. They were too uncomfortable. I ended up with the RHA T20 wireless for the best of all worlds for clarity, soundstage and versatility with the option for various filters and wired or wireless ( I caught these marked $70 off).

It’s easy to think the sound quality is trash when you’re unfamiliar with which ear tips you should be using. For me I have smaller canals. The foam ones make everything sound muffled and are just uncomfortable. Using the smallest of the rubber tips I get the best suction, sound quality, and they don’t move at all. This is my first pair of in ears so I have no experience with others. However I do enjoy these for what a headphone can be appreciated for. Bass is a little low but it doesn’t effect the overall sound when you have the right tips in. Also when these are in and you have the right tips in, you will hear practically nothing around you!

I would say these are as good as the IE80 IEMs. They don't sound completely the same, the treble and is more clear and much easier on the ears. I'm really surprised as these are *only* ≈ $100These are the only earphones I would say don't need an amp or dac. They sound good either way. It doesn't sound like much is missing. It sounds really balanced. I don't know how to describe it. Balanced with a clarity in treble bias. For example on the song "Hey Jude" doesn't hurt when he says "Hey Jude" and the beat starts.I also can't get over this: nothing is drowned out. Your instrumentals don't smash the vocals and the vocals don't get smashed by bass or instruments. These go in your ears really deep. They come with many eartips for really any size: big or small. They come with a cleaning tool if you have waxy ears. They're really comfortable, but I want to stress they go really deep in your ear.Yes they're great for everyday listening. Also keep in mind this is my experience and sound is a very subjective aspect. I made it to tell you how these stand between the IE 60 and IE 80. My answer is it's side by side with the IE80 for much less.

Overall rating is 3 Stars. (should be 1 Star, read below)Pros :* Great high notes, Very clear, Great for studioCons :* Pricing is too expensive for a pair of headphone. (audio industry companies is corrupt for money, read below)Alternative :# KZ ES4* They cost $19.99* 5X less money than Sennheiser* Has as much or even better than sound quality than the Sennheiser* Has as much or even better than sound quality than any large brand headphone maker in 2019.P.S.I returned 7+ pairs of headphones to buy the KZ ZST and KZ ES4. Trust me, headphones in 2019 are not anywhere near close the retail price of $100 or more. The Audio industry is corrupt because they over price materials and tools. If you want the best pair of headphone compared to every other large brand headphones, buy any of the headphones from KZ, because they know what they're doing.P.S.P.SI don't like 2019 noise canceling headphones because they mess around with the audio and it ends up being to fake music.

I’ve have terrible experiences with earbuds in the past so when I decided to try IEMs, I was very hesitant. Being a streamer, I knew several other streamers who have or had Sennhesier IEMs and raved about them. Well, I stumbled on these one day and compared them to some other brands and found that for the $100, you get fantastic sound, great quality components and simple plug and play capabilities. I have these paired with a GoXLR and Shure SM7B and I doubt I’ll be looking for new IEMs anytime soon.

I just got them as a replacement for my se215I own several headphones than I can compare: Sony MDR-7506, MDR-7510, Sennheiser HD-25 (mk1), Sennheiser HD600. My test was run with an RME ADI-2 DAC.First, i'm impressed with the value of this IEMs. The Sennheiser sound signature is here. It's quite comparble to the HD-25 in term of sound signature, maybe a little more room. However there are less punchy on the kicks and tiny bit less bass. But really, it sounds very close to the HD-25! I'm impressed.Compared to the Shure SE215, I personally prefer the sound of the IE 40 Pros. The SE215 have too loud bass for me and do not sound as balanced and clear these ones. The IE40 Pro are also smaller in the ear that is easier to fit and more comfortable. However I have some durability concerns about the IE 40 Pro. I like the easy removable coax cable, but maybe too easy compared to the shure, it happened to me to diaconnect it by mistake already. Is this connector is suited for a lot of connections? This might be a concern for musicians in urge on stage.Other than that, the build quality is great, on par with the se215.The highs are quite good, but hisses on some specific samples, or voices pronouncing S.

When low volume with crisp clear sound is required then you can’t go wrong with those. They are marvellous and by all means money well spent.
