I recently had my luthier install these pickups in my Yamaha BB234. I loved the sound of the bass with the stock pickups but I wanted something better. It is a low price bass after all; notice I did not say low quality. I have used a number of aftermarket pickups over the years; mostly Bartolini, but I have also used Lindy Fralin, Delano, Nordstrand, and DiMarzio. This was my first time trying Seymour Duncan. To say the least I am very pleased. I picked up a store return Quarter Pound PJ set at a discount. I ran the bass through an amp and through my headphone amp and the sound was crisp, clear and well-articulated with shimmering highs, a well-rounded low end with a solid mid-range. The pickups absolutely improved the overall sound of the bass. Well worth the money spent, even including the cost of the professional installation.

I built a P-J Bass and decided to install the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups as I had read so much about them. That was one of the best decisions I have made. The pickups produce the most incredible lows with absolute clarity with the bridge pickup providing mids and tops to cut through the mix. I love these pickups, absolutely amazing.

Finally have the sound I wanted; tight, punchy, clean, clear, with as much or as little brightness as I need. Great pickups. Swapped out actives for these and the sound is so much better, really! And, no hassle with batteries. Worth the cost.

These are a great drop-in replacement for a Squier VM Jaguar SS. However, the first set I got, the Jazz/Bridge pickup was defective. Unfortunately, I didn't test it until I wired everything up. Lesson learned, test the components with a multi-meter prior to installing. First set went back to Amazon, and the second set was perfect! (see the pictures for the readings on the bad and good pickups, bad one still has the foam stuck to the back)These pickups look great, with the double beefy magnet pole pieces, and they sound even better than they look. My bass has really come to life with these pickups!!! The stock Precision pickup was good, the Seymour Duncan is even better! The stock Jazz pickups on these basses is notoriously poor, and only useful to add some color to the P pickup. Now, with the quarter pounders on board, I can solo either pickup, or get a great blend!

I retrofit these onto an entry level Yamaha PJ bass using flatwound strings. They add so much attack and depth that the flatwounds sound more like roundwounds. They have a hot output, noticeably a lot more than the stock Yamaha pickups they replaced, like one of these alone is as strong as two of the stock ones. These sound really mean just using Line 6 POD-2 cabinet model effects. I'm quite happy with them.As others have mentioned, the foam 'springs' they come with is not quite thick enough depending on how high you want to set them. I think one of the reviewers complained about them being foam instead of springs. Packing pickup pockets with foam is common practice used by the pros, so that is not a bad thing at all.

Put these in to my Ibanez 4 string bass and it sounds so good. I highly recommend these Seymour Duncan quarter pounder bass pickups.

There very very good pickups so why not 5 stars? Well, for the money you pay for these, and a decent re wiring kit ( and fitting if you can't do it ) you would be wise to put your money towards a new guitar

Got them 3 days early. I know they will sound good. Only thing is I was a bit disappointed to see non cloth covered wires. Makes them look cheap. But they are quality pickups and nobody sees the wires. Will have to shave the pickplate a bit to fit the P bass pickup but I knew that going in. Happy with the purchase. Still a work in progress.

Bought these to upgrade a Squier Affinity PJ which already played as good as any other fender I've ever picked up but was just a bit lacking in the tone department. These pickups were an easy drop-in. I opted to install a blend pot and use a master volume instead of the usual separate volume knobs so I had to do a little extra soldering but the result is a great sounding bass with excellent tone control. Turned an inexpensive entry-level bass guitar into one that is certainly gig-able, without question. My only complaint is that the height-adjustment foam included for the bridge pickup isn't thick enough so I had to pack the cavity a bit.

Got great balance in sound, even bridge pickup alone have useful beafy tone. Small problem, had to file pick guard to fit it.
