I have had, for years, a cheap Chinese knockoff of a Fender P-Bass, in a vintage style, which I bought specifically because it had a Jazz neck. I've considered, off and on, buying a "real" bass, but that's another 500-1000 dollars and so I figured it may make more sense to see what I could do with the original to make it a better bass without that much of an investment. The first thing to do in any instrument upgrade is to replace the pickups, and I am glad that I went with these. They are, first of all, EXTREMELY loud. I had to pull them back from the strings a few millimeters further than the original pickups were positioned, and even then the output level is more close to "active" than passive. But the versatility that they have really can't be overstated. The tone with the tone knob turned all the way up is biting, aggressive, sharp, and articulate. The tone with the tone knob rolled all the way back is rich, warm, and creamy. Rolling the volume back a bit and the tone knob only a touch forward from rolled all the way back gives it a warm, jazzy tone, and I can crank it up all the way for an abrasive, overdriven sound more keyed for punk or metal. My $100 bass sounds like it cost 10 times more, and only cost me $65. Great, great pickups.

Fat tone, beautifully articulate, good amount of gain. More mids and bass than the old BassLines i had on there.

The Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound p-bass pickups do not disappoint. After I installed them, I plugged in and started playing... and then turned down the amplifier because I just about knocked myself out of the room. Whether you pluck or pick, these things pack a punch! Deep lows, nice mids, and enough in the highs to hit you in the back of the head. If you’ve ever dreamed of cutting through the mix in way that everyone asks you to tone it down so they can hear the drums, then this pickup is for you.Be aware that this is not a “vintage†pickup. If you’re looking for that, try the Fender Custom’62. That will give you the vintage boom you’re looking for. If you want to the next level of modern bass tones that are loud and dominant, the Quarter Pound is a great way to go. And the best part is the price - it’s extremely reasonable in comparison to similar offerings and the value is exactly what you should expect from Seymour Duncan.

It took me some time to tame the quite extreme booming that came out of the p.u. ! But once I did, I'm very happy with my choice.I have an Epiphone EB1 medium scale (32") that had to be modified...I replaced the three point bridge w. a Hipshot super bridge, carved a place to install the Q.P. in a precision position, replaced the wiring and hocus pocus! This is practically a new bass w. the sound that I expected, clear sound "fat and creamy" cuts through without exesive volume...I'm very happy and so are my jam session band mates.

These are great pickups. Clear, powerful, toneful. Replaced my stock Ibanez EX P/J pickups with these, and the difference is very apparent. More volume, but also more range of tone, not to mention fixing a microphonic issue with the old pups. I'm still fiddling with the setup, but really happy already. Mine came kinda beat up, the clamshells were beat and the pickup covers were scratched. I wouldn't have installed them on a customer's bass, because they didn't look new. However, Amazon was kind enough to give me a discount because of the damage, and as a result, I'm happy. The discount was big enough to cover the fact that when I touched the pups for the first time, the wire connecting the two neck pickups broke at the solder joint. After re-flowing all the joints, I installed with no further issues. I guess these just sat around getting beat up in the box for a while before they got to me. Oddly, the included screws did not work because the heads were too large and they interfered with the covers. The foam was also useless, but whatever. These are great pickups, sound great, look beefy. I like how the pole pieces are the same size as the fret marker dots, too... Mine don't say "BASSLINES", they say "Seymour Duncan", if you care about that. Overall, really happy.

Amazing pickups, totally worth it. I installed them in a MIM Precision Bass and the sound changed for the best. More low end, punch and a very well defined high end without losing that P-Bass pickup sound that we all love. Definitely a more modern sound than a vintage one, but I found it to work great for blues and funk nonetheless.Even though it's the only thing I changed so far on that bass the tone control took a new life.Installation requieres you to know how to solder, it's just two cables and instructions with diagrams are provided. Then it's just a matter of set-up the height of the pickups, I found this ones are more "hot" than the original ones so I have them a little lower than I used to.All in all a great upgrade for not a lot of money.

These Seymour Duncan 1/4 Pounders make a Squier P Bass sound like you have just spent 2k on a proper Fender, i honestly cant believe how much of a difference they have made, nice twangy high notes with tons of sustain, turn the tone control to the lowest position and the low notes are seriously Bassy, perfect for Dub Reggae. The amount of extra control with the tone is incredibly. Very very easy to fit, best upgrade ever. BUY THEM!!!

Like most people, I was confused as to how I would upgrade my MIM P-Bass pickup. Meaning, there is no lack of choice when it comes to after market pickups for this style of bass guitar. As I never found the stock pickup all that good, as it lacked tonal range etc.I watched all the YT comparison videos and read the reviews here on Amazon (check out Manotick StringWorks - Fender Precision Bass gets new Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound SPB-3 Pickups... nice upgrade!) and made the choice. Glad I did, no regrets. At around $150, I feel was a very good and reasonable upgrade for this Bass. The swap out/in installation was very easy as there are only two wires that need to be soldered, and the 4 screws to mount the new pickup. Everything fit perfectly. If you have an after market pick guard, you may need to do some minor scaping if the fit is too tight.Happily in the Low-End.

good sound, good quality.i personally paired the pickup with an apollo jazz.it looses a star for not being the same finish, which sadly makes the combination look a bit odd.(one is polished high gloss the other is rough matte)
