Got this to put on new rattle reels. Always used Dacron in the past but moving to this, love the idea of this not tangling up or freezing to the ice as much as Dacron. Very easy to work with. Might change all my tip-ups to this line. only issue so far is very slipper to tie knot with, Palomar knot seems to hold well. Wish it came in more colors.

This is listed as being used for tip ups or rattle reels, but I will be using it exclusively for rattle reels. It might work for tip ups, but the line is quite a bit thicker than normal braided tip up line and I personally want the line to spool tightly on my tip up and tip up spools are also just too small for this to be effective, in my opinion. I wouldn't be able to get as much line on the spool as I want.As for rattle reels, however, this should work perfectly fine for my needs. I'll be using it for overnight walleyes while ice fishing and although it's a little bit on the thick side, it is still plenty flexible. I'll be using a long fluorocarbon leader with it (you'd never tie this type of line directly to a hook or lure) and rattle reels are much larger in size and spool thick line easily.It says it is 35lb test and I tried with my bare hands to break it by pulling as hard as I could and it didn't break so I'm confident it will hold any fish I manage to hook.

I've used this several times on neighborhood lakes here in Wisconsin and it has held up exceptionally well. I've not caught anything larger than 17 lb Musky, but even fighting him the line was easy to see in low light and the line didn't ice up, most importantly it didn't break or even fray. I'm not sure what is coating the line, but it is far better than any braided line I've used before. When I used braided line and would peel off the line to the side as I was bringing up a fish, the braided line tended to tangle and it would take me longer to get it back on the rattle reel before I could bait up and drop it back in the hole. With this line, I did not have that problem. I'd recommend this for any rattle reel fishing you might do. I don't use tip-ups, so I can't attest to how it would work on them.

When you are picking what line to use on your rattle wheels, you want to make sure to pick a line that will not collect ice or freeze in easily along the edge of a hole. This line is PVC coated to make it slippery when compared to braided line, and it is thicker so that it will not easily freeze into the side of a hole. The bright color allows you to see at a quick glance where your line is at anytime. Plus, when pulling up a fish, it will help so that nobody by you is standing on the line while watching you.Overall, this is a quality product for ice fishing rattle wheels.
