The magnet is strong: you unscrew the backplate on the dial indicator and install the black (plastic) backplate from this kit. This allows the dial indicator to be screwed to the blue magnet base. Works great, easy install. I used this with the Shars brand dial indicator.

These are my go to magnets for use on my lathe. They've held up shockingly well for daily use. I did have one come apart where the brass goes into the puck, but a little bit of epoxy later and its back up and running.

Seems like a pretty good indicator, haven’t tested it with gauge blocks but returns to zero every time. The included magnet has plenty of hold to keep it where you put it. Great set for general use.

Why would this product have lead? This is a simple magnet, some blue paint, a steel screw and a plastic back. It fit my dial perfectly and works fine. Not comfortable with my children handling it in the shop if it has lead somewhere. Were is the lead?
