I needed a very short shepherd’s hook for a specific purpose and couldn’t find anything sturdy enough that was also the right height.This item worked for me, even though I had to spend money on the complete set when I only needed one hook.My purpose was to hang a glass suncatcher of a yellow star over my kitty Twinkle’s grave. I wanted it to be just the right height to hover over the marker.I was hoping the shortest hook in this set would work—and it kind of did, but I wanted the star just a tad bit higher. I ended up using a hacksaw to cut down one of the extender pieces. It took forever to cut thru this metal! But it was worth it because I now have perfection. The way the stake is designed gives stability to the hook and keeps it from leaning forward.I can’t comment on durability because it’s only been in the ground for an hour. But all parts seemed very sturdy. The ground was softened from a day of rain, so I didn’t have any trouble pushing in the plastic stake.

We used these at 2 out of 3 length inserts (18" tall maybe?) to hold up a plastic chain. Like a super light chain. And they still bent from wind swinging the chain. Very soft metal and the plastic ground spikes are maybe average. If you hanging something less than 3 Lbs these might work at 2 or 3 height setting. Otherwise, keep them low to the ground.

These hooks are perfect for hanging lightweight items such as candle lanterns. One observation ~ they are definitely more sturdy with fewer poles connected.

I had purchased some of the small ribbed glass lantern candle holders from The World Market ( Iam telling you this so you can get an idea of what size/weight they will hold ) and was looking for something to hook them on. I didn't particularly want to pay an awful lot so these seemed ideal . I was very impressed when they came, they are much sturdier than I expected considering the price. They come in a smallish box and you have to assemble them, which was very simple to do a quick 2 minute job. The poles / hooks them selves are metal and come in 3 sections which screw together. There is also a seperate plastic stake which you push into the ground, then you slot the mental hook into the top. This makes it much more sturdier in the ground and also means I can remove the lanterns and hooks easily to make mowing easy and less risk of catching them and breaking the lanterns. I purchased 2 sets and am very happy with them.
