I'm a hobbyist who enjoys small electronics and 3D printing. I ordered this pair of accelerometers to help eliminate ringing in my 3D prints. There was a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to set everything up. I had to design mounts to mount the accelerometer to my X carriage and my print bed. I also had to create a custom connector to connect the MPU 6050 to my MCU. I tried communicating with the MPU using my Le Potato, but ultimately I had the best luck when I connected it to a Raspberry Pi Pico. Once set up, I was able to use the Pico as a secondary MCU to record the vibrations from the MPU 6050. Using the readings from the accelerometer, I was able to eliminate ringing.I had two issues with this accelerometer. One issue is that the PCBs are not identical. One of the PCBs has an edge to it that looks like it was intended to have been removed. Since I didn't want to risk breaking the board by removing it myself, I adjusted my designs to allow for this edge. The other issue is that one of the mounting holes is very close to an electronic component. It was impossible to screw the MCU onto the mount without shorting that component. In order to use this, I had to work around that issue with my mount design. I eventually wound up printing a peg where the screw should be in order to keep it stable.

I don’t know how well this module works yet, because I haven’t tried it. Noticed right away, though that it isn’t pre-soldered.

Buyer beware you will probably end up with components that are not soldered…even thought you’ve paid for pre-soldered components.
