This grease is SPECIFIC for Shimano Nexus 3 speed internal gear hubs with roller coaster brake. I haven't used it so far, but my SUN-trike and my Nirve 53 cruiser are fitted with those particular gear hubs, so I decided to get it for doing proper maintenance to them.Depicted is the older black container & label. What you get is the new (translucent) container, with the label that identifies it as an original Shimano product - made in Japan. And since the grease is white, it looks completely different from the picture. The container is 5 inches long (without the nozzle), and about 1.5 inches diameter. 100 grams of this (lightweight) grease is a large amount that should last for several servicing jobs.

Unlike the picture, the container and grease itself is white, and it's a LOT more grease than I thought. Based on how much the bike shop used when doing a full regrease of my SG-3D55 3-speed hub, this tube is going to last me another 5 years or so.Also, I can tell why the shop told me to get this specific kind of grease, instead of using standard stuff, it's incredibly non-viscous. It's thinner than toothpaste, and suuuuper slippery. Makes sense given the number of gears and moving parts inside the hub.

This grease did stick well on the gears and ball bearings in the Nexus Hub.Required product and worth it.recommend it.

it helps somewhat and only temporarily with the squealing with the coaster brake on this shimano hub. but after a while, have to add more.anyway, do not use anything except this very special grease in your shimano hub. and if you have a roller brake (different from coaster brake), there is a separate grease just for roller brake. this one works in all shimano hubs and coaster brakes. if you use a different grease, you will ruin your gears.i have only used it for the brake, not the actual gear mechanism.

I used this grease to service my DT Swiss hub and a Shimano SLX rear derailleur clutch. Both are now working smoothly, quietly, and flawlessly. This grease is perfect for these applications.

It is actually white in color. While it is suppose to be the right grease for the product, it amazes me that it is more fluid than most grease that I knew of. I sometimes wonder-will it evaporate? But I have my faith in Shimano, that is why I have gone great lenghts to order this from far away US.

I bought a used bike with a 3-speed Nexus hub. The hub and brakes were noisy. I rotated the coaster brake arm to expose a grease port and squeezed the Shimano grease into the port. It quieted the hub and smoothed the braking. Great product.

This is a special grease for internally geared hubs, very thin but with great lubrication, but nor intended for general use.It is also the only grease that Shimano specifies for servicing all its derailleur clutches, I just bought it to service my Shimano SLX 7100 rear mech clutch and it's working perfectly now.

Excellent greases. This is essential for Shimano imter hub gears as it ensures that the pawls etc. don't stick and the hub performs as it should. Also excellent customer service
