This hand-held drum sander can be used with a cordless drill or a straight pneumatic grinder. It works within a range of inflation hardness. Very handy.

The fill stem for this model D4594 was set "too low" for a regular style bike pump to fit on/ release. This bladder should never be filled using another type of air device or you chance over filling this and/ or rupturing the bladder. Great concept (in-set air stem within the handle), but the "quality control and follow through of ensuring stem depth"... resulted in time delays, refund of total order and generally not happy with this model, and "YES" I tried several pumps and attachments to remedy before return. For this reason I would "NOT" recommend this product or the company selling it (1-Star)! Thank you and hope this helps!

The sander works effectively at first, but the valve eventually fails and the bladder doesn’t hold pressure, rendering the tool useless.

Well machined, well balanced. No slip of the sleeve, easy to inflate with a bicycle pump, in fact I think if you used a compressor you would quickly over inflate the bladder (only 8 psi is required to keep the sleeve on the bladder [drum]). This tool removes wood very rapidly and with no "swirls" although you have to be careful to hold it at the direction you want to sand (in my use I'm purposely sanding on a cross-grain angle). Also, the ease of use may vary depending on the drive motor you use. I already had a Milwaukee close-quarter (not quite right angle) 3/8 drill which works ok for me. Too much trouble with an air powered tool because of the hose and the difficulty of maintaining a constant speed with an air tool. The ideal drive tool would be a compact right angle drill motor with a dial-in variable speed control, but you (I) just can't have everything.

I've had this for about a year and use it for guitar building. It worked fine until yesterday, when it had a near blowout (see photo). No, it wasn't over-inflated -- as I said, I've been using it for a year. I'm going to switch to the one made by Elevate Lutherie, which uses two bolts rather than an air bladder.

Arrived with a leak in the air bladder. I also bought the larger model. That one works great, but this one was dead on arrival. I didn't try to use it until after the return timeline ended. Wish it worked.

Works as described. Cover on end cap to small and falls off easily. Not a problem, its not really a necessity.Received quickly and packed well. Would buy again.

The air bladder had a leak when it arrived, so it wouldn't stay inflated for more than a few minutes. I also hated the finish it left on woods like spruce where there's hard and soft grain. It would scoop away the soft grain and leave the hard grain. I think I'll look for something a little more rigid.
