This sucked 8.5 quarts of synthetic oil in 7 minutes on my 2001 Mercedes Benz C320. The stealership uses the suction method to change my oil for 140 dollars; oil and filter included. I did it for a total of 80 dollars with this unit. Everything is topside including the oil filter so I don't have to go under the car.The intake hose was slim enough to fit in the dipstick shaft and long enough to touch the bottom of the oil pan. I ran my engine for 10 minutes to get the oil warm. Warm, enough to touch. Not too hot because I didn't want to melt the hose and seals. I let the car sit for another 10 minutes so all the oil would settle at the pan. I took out the filter, unscrewed the oil cap, inserted the hoses and turned this sucker on. It did its thing. The unit vibrates along with the out take hose so I needed one hand to control the hose. The wire clips for the batteries are small but I was able to find a place to clamp at the terminals.I store this by keeping it primed with clean oil. I have an extra bottle of cheap engine oil and I ran the machine on it to flush the ugly oil out. While its sucking the clean oil, I quickly turn it off, pull out the hoses, and cap the ports making sure the clean oil stays inside the unit so that its ready and primed for next use.It does it's job. For now... I'm not sure how synthetic oils affect seals. Hopefully it still works again. I'll see in 7000k miles. Even if it were to break on me, I would still be saving money by ordering a new one.

it does a good job, on my particular boat, the included length of tubing going down the dipstick mean i had to insert all but 3 inches into the dipstick, which meant holding the device at an odd angle up against the engine block, and at the same time unpinching the connection to allow maximum flow, like this we are at about 15min plus to drain oil, it sputtered. I went to local hardware shop and picked up tubing the was just slightly larger and attached it to the device and inserted the original tubing into this new tube. The larger diameter of the new tube fixed the pinching issue which was restricting flow, new drain time was under 5 minutes. the pinching may be fixed with the original tubing if it can be inserted all the way in, I could not get it all the way in.

Pros: The extraction tube fits down the dipstick tube just fine and it does pump the oil out. It is inexpensive compared to other models.Cons:- even with oil at operating temperature, it takes a long time to work. After I got it primed, it seemed to really start going. With that being said, it took about 10 minutes to drain the oil from a 305 v8 engine. I suppose the 'minutes' as advertised isn't technically incorrect, but you get the point.-It vibrates, a LOT. The magnets that are at the bottom don't stand a chance of holding it onto any surface, much less a surface you don't want scratched.-The intake hose is not secure. See vibration above. There is a rubber connector piece that connects the pickup hose to the pump. With the vibrations, no chance that is holding. So you have to hold the pump while it works, while also holding the intake hose. Easy enough to do with two hands, but....- The outlet hose comes curved and rigid. See vibration above, again. That hose flops all over the place so unless you have something else to hold it, guess where your second hand is going. You end up kind of contorted holding all of the hoses where they should go trying not to make a mess, but...- You will make a mess. There is simply no way to avoid it with the design of this pump. Between the intake robber boot, energizer bunny of an outlet hose, priming, and cleanup, you will make a mess. With that being said, I was not able to get the chance to develop a system because...-I got two oil changes out of this thing. Well, technically 2 1/2. The electric motor let go of the gear inside. (There is a small, but stout motor inside that turns a series of three gears) the shaft of the motor wore right through the plastic drive gear and stopped turning it. Leaving me with 1/2 of the oil pumped out. I would rather it failed right away, so I could warm the engine up again when my new pump arrives, but I am left with the option of either pumping cold oil or refilling with 2 fresh qts, warming up, and pumping out everything again.Bottom line, you get what you pay for. I was hoping that it wouldn't cost me $13+ for an oil change for a pump, but it is looking like thats the case. I am upgrading to a self contained system to save me cleanup costs and time in the future.

I was hesitant to order this pump due to a couple of the reviews, but after following the directions it was great! I have a 7 quart engine and it sucked the oil out in about 4 minutes.Yes, it has oil in it from the factory - it's clean, fresh oil. They have to test it somehow, right?Yes, you have to:A. make sure the intake hose (the small one) is firmly seated on the pump inlet to create an airtight seal, andB. make sure you put the right hose in the right place. Small one goes in the engine, big one goes in the disposal container...I suspect one of the negative reviewers here may have reversed it.A local "Quick Lube" oil and filter change costs me over $120. Buying the oil and doing it myself cost $40 in oil, $12 for a filter and $25 for this pump, for a net savings of $45 the FIRST time and $70 for subsequent changes.Shoot, at that rate I'd buy a new one of these things every 6 months if I needed to.Pros:=========InexpensiveEasy to useFast - about 30 seconds per quartNo crawling under the car on your backNo rampsNo jacksNo (HOT!) oil everywhere (hands, arms, face, hair, tools, shirt, floor, etc.) when you take out the drain plugNo buying an O-ring or copper washer to use when replacing the drain plug.Cons:========NoisyThe magnets are a good idea but aren't very strong, but I can't see that being a decisive factor. Will almost certainly leave some oil in the engine because your dipstick tube won't go to the very bottom point of your engine sump. Not really a problem unless you're excessively anal-retentive..

Works well. Oil must be hot for pump to work. Update: I see others are having issues with this unit but I've used the pump twice now and it pumps perfectly. It's not fast but it's a steady flow, takes about 4-5 mins to empty. Again oil must be hot for the pump to work.
