If you do any type of yard work that requires cutting limbs, then do yourself a big favor and get the Silky. I needed some of the branches of eight large crepe myrtles trimmed. I checked with several yard maintenance firms in the area and they all wanted close to $100 per tree. This was too steep a price for me to swallow so I first tried my anvil branch cutters which are good cutters and wasn't getting anywhere fast. I then tried using another brand pruning saw which I already had and that was no better in getting the job done. I looked around on the web and came across several Japanese hand saws that were recommended and found the Silky on Amazon. I decided to give it a try based on other reviews I had read as well as the ones on Amazon. In the worse case, I was out the price of the saw. I am so glad I bought this saw. It was awesome and I finished all my pruning in very short order. To say this hand saw is impressive is an understatement. It's flipping awesome! It cut through crepe myrtle and oak branches that were larger than my wrist and forearm as if they were rigid foam or a loaf of bread. It cuts on both the push and the pull, although much better on the pull. I have never experienced a better pruning tool. There is no pruning tool, such as compound action anvil loppers or other landscaping saws, that come anywhere close to this elegant hand tool.I have used other pruning tools which I thought were good, but this hand saw blows them all away. I love the fact that a small woman like me can easily cut through large branches with literally no effort. I was a bit skeptical when I ordered the silky, especially since I had just bought what was supposedly the top of the line compound action anvil lopper which couldn't even cut branches nearly as large as the ones that I easily cut through with the silky.Granted it's a bit expensive, but if you do a fair amount of yard work that requires cutting branches, then it's a great investment and all you will need. Especially if you don't enjoy hard work and want to get your cutting done quickly and effortlessly.I can't say enough regarding how amazing the tool is, the blade is durable, sharp and cuts through thick branches effortlessly. The hand grip is plastic, but extremely comfortable, well balanced and doesn't blister your hands after long use like many other pruning tools tend to do.The silky is made in Japan in the same region where fine Japanese cutlery is manufactured. It comes with a hard plastic scabbard which locks the blade when fully inserted. The silky also come with a lifetime warranty against material and manufacturing defects. It's easy to clean which I recommend that you do after use as well as lightly spraying and wiping down with a quality oil such as WD-40 or a good gun oil.If you want the best pruning tool currently available, then I highly recommend the Silky 270-33 Zubat Professional hand saw.

This is the best pruning saw I have ever used, and I have used quite a few - I'm the guy trimming oak limbs by hand when others ask if I want to use a chainsaw. Cuts cleanly and smoothly, clears chips well even with green wood. Due to not having something more appropriate, I ended up using this to saw through a fallen pine tree recently to clear a trail - hard, dead, slow-growth pine, about 12" across (66 annual growth rings.) Slow going, but it was faster than any other available saw.The margin as "best" saw isn't huge, but this Silky is definitely there. Definitely the fastest, easiest cutting. What really sets it apart is the sheath system. There are many ways to attach it - my favorite is the belt loop, because you can leave the loop in place on your belt and take the saw/sheath off. For example, if you've been sawing and want to sit in your camp chair for a coffee break - it takes 2 seconds to undo it and set it aside instead of tangling it in the chair. The retention mechanism in the sheath is very nice. It's a spring-loaded pair of rollers! Easy to use and secure. After using, I have been cleaning the blade with rubbing alcohol and a rag, teeth get cleaned with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. I use the 90% rubbing alcohol. I also lubricate the blade after cleaning - my "go to" for most lubrication these days is from DuPont - I first started using it on my car door hinges.https://www.amazon.com/DuPont-Chain-Saver-Self-Cleaning-Lubricant-14-Ounce/2019 update: After cutting green wood, I found it annoying to get all of the sappy sawdust out of the teeth. Recently I tried cutting dry wood after the green wood, took care of most of the cleaning. Not totally clean, but at least 75% better. Still quite happy with the saw.

This is an incredibly sharp saw that allows me to prune my trees often with a single pull through the branch. It is not made to cut via push and pull, only pull with it and it works like a hot knife through butter. We currently have a small orchard with approximately 40 trees and intend to expand to 300+ over time, this is by far the best blade I have ever pruned with. The scabbard that came with it fits the saw perfectly and helps insure you won't cut things you don't intend to cut; there are leg straps that are available for purchase separately that I recommend if you plan to wear the scabbard on your side. If you have a single apple tree or an entire orchard this would prove to be a valuable and excellent purchase.

I bought this saw after I watched a tree pruner working on large trees in our back yard. I purchased it for my adventures in the back country. I go on lots of wilderness canoe trips and this saw has been really useful in cutting firewood pieces. It is now an essential part of my canoe kit. Sharp! Sturdy! Easy to Use! Fantastic sheath!
