All perfect die cutting and embossing machines for card making, so you won’t be short on projects you can utilise this embossing folder for! What is embossing and debossing? Embossing is the process of creating raised and textured designs in materials such as paper and cardstock. Debossing is the same idea, though instead of raising the material, it pushes the material downwards, to create a ‘sunken’ effect. Our 3D Embossing Folders do both to create that 3D effect! How do I use a 3D Embossing Folder? It’s easy! Grab your Big Shot Machine (660200) and Standard Cutting Pads (655093) to get started. Firstly, place your chosen paper or cardstock inside the folder, for best results when using cardstock, spray a little water on the material before placing inside the folder. This will help to create an even deeper impression! Place the folder on top of your first cutting pad and complete the sandwich with your second cutting pad placed on the top. With one roll through your die cutting machine, your 3D design will be revealed! Note: An Adapter Platform (658992) will be required when using embossing folders with any of our Sizzix Big Shot machines. Simply place this under the sandwich you’ve created and you’re ready to go! If you've already purchased one of our Big Shot machines, your adapater is included! Are Sizzix embossing folders compatible with non-Sizzix machines? We always advise use of our embossing folders with Sizzix machines for best results. Love this embossing folder. It makes a very vivid impression. I used it multiple times this past year in making Christmas cards. It also holds ink very well.

I am still experimenting to get the right look. I have had good luck using the letter press method of inking. I used white cardstock and inked the smooth side of the embossing folder with Ranger oxide ink. I tried several colors. Oxide ink gives a lighter shade than distressed ink. I also tried embossing on black and lightly applied gold metallic wax. I couldn't get it applied on the top only. Some of it got on the background. It is a little pricy for an embossing folder.
