The exteriors feature SKB's recognizable bar design that signifies the rack unit size on the front and rear lids. Molded bars on top and bottom also provide interlocking capabilities allowing you to easily and securely stack them with SKB's Standard Roto Racks and Roto Rolling Racks, making transport even more convenient and secure. Lids include rubber gasket seals to keep water out. Other standard features include front and rear steel threaded rails and rack screws 10-32 thread, recessed steel Mil-Spec twist latches, flush carry handles, and non-slip rubber feet. All Shallow Racks are 10.7 deep from front rail to rear rail.

Worked perfect for my Carvin B1500 amp - which is already very heavy by itself (35 Lbs). I had it in a wooden road case before and the whole thing was annoyingly heavy. This case is relatively light in comparison (10 Lbs) and makes it much easier to lug around that beast of an amp.

(3U) It is light weight, the latches work well, and it has no rattles or buzzes. Screws were included. These racks are made to stack and interlock. On the bottom the interlock feature is an indentation. I place it on top of a speaker cabinet that has a large strap type handle on top and the handle fits up into the middle indentation.

I use the SKB 3U shallow rack for a Behringer X32 Rack mixer and (in a separate, identical rack) an uninterruptible power supply and drawer for an Apple Airport Router to complete the mixer package. The separate racks keep the weight manageable (the UPS is heavy) and make them more flexible to pack in the car/van. The stacked racks interlock to stay aligned and prevent sliding which is helpful both while in use and while being transported. The lids are deep enough to store a couple of short XLR cables or the IEC power cable for the X32 or other stuff. Overall, a well designed and well constructed rack case for your rack gear while in use and to effectively protect it from damage while being transported.

I like the rack case. Very lightweight and with it being shallow it’s not a pain to carry and get in or out of your car. I recommend it, especially for the bigger interfaces.

Got this to house mic pre-amp, compressor, power conditioner... added the stand and it now fits under my desk to be both out of the way & at a great angle to pop the cover off and plug-in for recording.

When I received the SKB and attempted to install my rackgear, two out of three units didn’t fit unless I reordered them in a certain way. They popped out of the frame. At first I thought it might be variances in my gear but I noticed a slight bend on the left rack rail. Ordered a replacement and everything fit so might have just got a bad one. Item is surely lightweight but definitely check for a proper fit if you’re using it for transport.

Muy buena calidad, no esperaba menos de SKB.Por poner pegas, lo de siempre. Los acabados podrÃan ser un poco más cuidados y el asa más cómoda.

I used to own the "X Rack" shallow model; this box is tad "deeper" (front to back) but with lids 7 rails on both sides MUCH stronger and more versatile!! Highly recommended!

Good that this box has flanges on the back as well, for mounting a mains block. Solid construction but still quite light. If you need shelves, you'll need to get the shorter ones, as the box is not that deep
