What I really like about the SKB 4U rack is the weight of it. Its really light weight, but very sturdy. I heard bad reviews on this rack but decided to give it a shot and I really like it. I use if for my QLXD wireless systems i just bought. I also noticed how the tops that come off are reinforced from the inside. Even better! I have nothing bad to say about it!

Used to build a deployable radio package. Everything fit (just barely) and case seems to work well. Top and bottom material flexes quite a bit so not sure how well internal stuff will be protected.

I bought this as a means to carry ham radio gear in sort of a portable, ready to go station for emergency communications. It is not a common rack case used for this purpose. Most my ham radio buddies use a competitor product. I get ALOT of compliments whenever I whip this baby out. It is elegant, sleek and sturdy. It holds my ham radio gear well, and the seal adds an extra protection against moisture (although NOT weather or water proof). I am very happy with it. Oh, and customer service is superb too!

I like the compactness of the rack. I have an X32 Rack and Furman power supply on a shelf with an Airport Express plugged in back. The X32 Rack just fits in the case. The power cord will need to be removed from the X32 in order to close the back. There is enough room on the shelf rack for the X32 cord to be stored in the case while closed though.I have a 2U of this same case that has my wireless monitoring system in it and being able to stack these two cases is nice.I know others have complained about the threads of the rack holes not working with the included screws, but I found that it didn't take much effort to get the screws in. I wasn't able to screw them in with just my had, but it was easy with a phillips screw driver.

Wonderful case, beautifully built, however the rack rail holes are drilled and threaded on the small side. The 10-32 screws that came with the rack are VERY difficult to drive all the way, they thread easily for about 3 threads then it becomes very hard to screw all the way. I sheared the head off of one. Luckily I was able to remove the screw part with vice grips. I finally gave up, removed all of the screws and used a 10-32 tap to run through all of the holes and clean them up. Screws installed like a charm after that. Come on SKB, need to step the QC on the rack rails.

Nice size, light weight. Latches come undone when they have contact with anything and the lid falls off. They're very loose when fully latched and there appears to be no way to tighten them. No confidence in this protecting my gear.

When it happened the first time, I thought maybe I didn’t latch it properly. But, it kept happening. Both lids would pop off and contents were falling out. Had to return it.
