Before purchasing the Skymee feeder, i researched every web.app-enabled automated feeder i could find on Amazon with 4+ star ratings, and compared their features. Some of the things to look for in this category are: - fine control of the portion size - some have very small increments of 5-10g or 1/8 cup, while others only have increments of around 20g or 1/4 cup. My cat is on a diet so i need to give him a "little" less - widely configurable number of feedings per day - low/empty hopper warning - polished app that works every time with easy setup - reasonable hopper size, big enough to hold a decent food supply but not so big to be unwieldy. For me, 6-8 liters seems about right. - bowl and hopper easily removed for cleaning. - fully sealed hopper to keep the food fresh; having a compartment for dessicant is a bonus. - HD camera that's not mounted too high to see a small pet when it's eating; infrared / low-light capability is a bonus. - 2-way audio, motion sensing, and other advanced features are a bonusI initially purchased a different product, and couldn't get the app to work. Got ahold of the seller and was told that the developer needed to fix it - apparently a known issue, but they sold the product anyway! Re-reading the "5-star reviews" for the other product, it was obvious that most or all of them were fake. It's boxed up and ready to return.Then i had a friend tell me she had just purchased the Skymee feeder, and loved it. I checked it out on Amazon, and i'm not sure why it didn't come up in my initial searches, but i found that it had EVERY feature i was looking for, and more! The price is at the low end of the range of camera-equipped automatic feeders*, the app works flawlessly, and has a great range of configurability. Furthermore, the engineering and quality of construction really jumped out as being miles ahead compared to the one i returned. It's really thoughtfully designed, works perfectly, and does everything you'd want and more. Plus, i've got a bunch of cute pics of my hungry cat patiently waiting for his food, then chowing down!* One more bonus is that it's available with two hopper sizes - the 8L i purchased is plenty big for 1-2 cats for multiple weeks, and is significantly less expensive than the 12L that's also available, which might be great if you have a big dog, multiple dogs, or lots of cats!The fact that this is by far the longest and most detailed review i've ever written is a reflection of how very pleased i am with this product, especially after the disappointment of trying one of the other ones that *seemed* good, but didn't measure up in any way to this one.

My new review on January 06, 2021: I bought another one because now I got 8 cats to feed. With the automatic feeding schedule on, the unit constantly says: "Dispense excessive food" without any food coming out. And when I tried to force food out by feeding manual feeding, it also says: "Dispense excessive food" without producing any food. I am sending this 2nd one back for a replacement. I am changing the review from 5 star to 1 star due to this problem.My previous Review:The unit arrived unassembled, but assembly is not difficult. The unit works pretty well. I can set up an automatic daily feeding schedule, and it also allows me to do a manual feeding. This part works well. For event-triggered by motion detection, It appears the unit can capture photos only. I have not been able to figure out how to capture video. I guess it cannot capture motion-triggered video at this time.The APP I use is an android app, which definitely needs some improvement. For example, the motion detection captured photo cannot be zoomed nor saved. I have not been able to set to capture video.Overall I am happy with the purchase and hope the supplier will improve its functionalities with its APP.

I got this product 2 months ago because I was going away for 48 hours. Despite having a friend coming over once a day to check up on my kitten, I wanted him to be fed more than once a day, so I ended up investing in this product.One big alert: once I was away for a few hours and I decided to manually feed my kitten his lunch, but I got a message saying something like the plate is full or it's overflowing.... (Something on that note, can't remember the exact words). I figured he mustn't have eaten his breakfast and that is why it's overflowing. Anyway I got home shortly after and saw the food plate was empty!!!!! I puked my finder inside where the food comes out, and BOOM! All the sudden all the portions were dumped out. Turned out, a few kibbles were stuck and sent wrong alert that the plate was full!In general, it can be a useful product and works most times, but malfunction like this can happen ( it happened to me once in 2 months), so you cannot be 100% dependent on this product when you are away.

I purchased this product out of desperate need to make sure the family dog was being fed appropriately and in healthy portions. He is a large dog so finding a feeder that could accommodate his food requirements was difficult.I came upon this feeder, the only one I could find with a 12 L capacity and larger kibble size. When it arrived, a piece was broken off, but, as it did not effect the functionality, I contacted the company to inform them and continued using the device.It has worked faithfully for me for one and a half years. I had piece of mind knowing our pup was being fed at the proper times, with the addition of being able to see and speak to him through the device.Unfortunately, the mechanism inside has suddenly failed to send food out. I contacted Skymee immediately and they have been exceedingly helpful, offering to send a new feeder out ASAP. They have put my mind at ease. I've even ordered a second machine for our cats!

I originally purchased this automatic pet feeder over 1 year ago and it was the best purchase I made for my cat. Set up was reasonably easy (look online for how-to videos if the provided instructions are insufficient) and it worked seamlessly during several of my address moves. I really liked the functionality the product offered, including the ability to provide multiple and unscheduled feeds, two-way video/mic and ability to save video/pictures, just to name a few. Really gave me the piece of mind if I am away for the weekend or if my work schedule gets unpredictable. The price isn't cheap but given the amount of functionality the feeder offers, I'd say it is quite competitive for the pet feeder market and I have recommended this product to several of my friends with pets.I am writing this review 1+ year later because the feeder has finally given me a problem (for some reason, it is not allowing me to sync up with my new address' wifi). The company's help service team has been great in helping me troubleshoot and are very responsive via email.Overall, a 5/5 for this product.

It's become completely useless after jot even 1 week. App doesn't work at all anymore giving me headache and being away is also affecting my cat who hasn't been properly fed for 2 days. Can't login anymore and can't manually feed or track meals or even do anything else. Also when it worked, food gets jammed at the exit, making it impossible to use the feeder again. It's complete junk

The Feeder is awesome , works perfectly, my dog loves it and app works great. Really recommend it.
