Easy to attach to mixer. Dishwasher safe. My wife wanted to shred her own block cheese and this grater was amazing. The first try did not go well because I had the speed too high and put the cheese in too fast. The cheese clumped inside the grater and I had to scrape it out with a fork. On the second try I set the speed to 1 and gently pushed the cheese into the grater and it still went through half a huge block of cheese (4"x4"x2") in a minute. the negatives are you have to cut the block into strips that fit into the funnel of the grater (so I since bought a nice wire cheese slicer- using a knife to slice cheddar is too much work). Also, a little bit of cheese ends up stuck between the body of the grater and the grating wheel so when you remove the wheel you have to clean out the grater, but the whole process is way nicer than doing it by hand. If you lift the back of the mixer up just a little, the cheese falls out even better. Mozzarella grated easier I think because it is softer. Or maybe it was because of the temperature. I'm going to remove the cheddar from the fridge and let it warm up a little next time and see if that makes it shred easier.

Did a darn good job of grating a pound of cheese really quickly. Cleaned up easily

We use a lot of grated cheese in my house - omelettes, quesadillas, pizza, etc. I was using a hand cheese grater until I came SO close to taking off a knuckle. Immediately threw them away and ordered the kitchen aid attachment. It’s so easy to use and grates the cheese quickly and efficiently. Easily attaches onto my kitchen aid with just the front screw. Instructions say to hand wash, don’t know if it would handle going through the dishwasher. Came with 3 different blades, which all seem nice and sharp!

Great attachment for my Kitchenaid. Easy to use. Quick way to shred the blocks of cheese. Used to shred even slices of cucumbers.

Great device. Parts come together well. Clean easily. Better than bloody fingers using manual grater. Honest.

Absolutely love this grater/slicer attachment. I grated a whole 16 oz block of cheese in a couple minutes.i don't think a regular size cucumber would fit in top but the mini English cucumbers do. it sliced them right up.You do have to stop and scoop out the cheese if the cheese is a softer cheese but it still worked faster than me grating it by hand and scraping my knuckles or using the one you turn by hand which causes my hands to cramp up. Overall GRATE product.

This is a waste of money! The lock doesn’t work. It unlocks every two seconds while you’re using it and the blade comes out. The small shredder can take big pieces. I was shredding onions and potatoes for latkes and it was too hard for it. Then switched to the big one. Still you need to put the mixer on a really high speed so it can take shredding a potato. The slicer sucks!! I sliced radishes, and it is super thick and it breaks the end of the slices. It doesn’t give you a whole slice without breaking it and getting small pieces all over.Too bad I was too busy dealing with this crap that I didn’t take pictures of it. DON’T BUY IT BETTER TO SPEND A FEW MORE BUCKS AND GETTING THE REAL DEAL THAT WILL WORK PROPERLY AND WILL LAST FOR A LONG TIME.

BUT: it's not a big but, however, you have to watch it when grating softer cheeses like Old Cheddar and Gouda, because they tend to "jam up" in the grater. Not a huge deal; you just have to stop the procedure and ease the product out using some sort of plastic utensil before continuing. What I find works best is to place cheeses of this type in the freezer for about an hour before grating to "toughen" them up a bit. However, when thin slicing potatoes for Scalloped Potatoes or grating them for Potato Latkes or cabbage when making Cole Slaw, it works like a charm. Even though it is not a Kitchen-Aid product, it fits and operates beautifully. I highly recommend this attachment.Sept. 8: Now that I have owned this item for 9 months and have used it extensively, I have to say that it is one of my favorite "KITCHEN GADGETS". I have used it for all of the things I listed and it is terrific for grating cheeses: instead of buying grated cheeses in a package. It is not only economical to do so, but you end up with a better quality of grated cheese. Remember; there are Great Cheeses and there are Grated Cheeses (in a package), but there are no Great Grated Cheeses!

This is such a perfect addition to my Artisan KitchenAid! the blades are very strong and very sharp. It was very simple to attach and even simpler to change the blades without removing the entire attachment. I’ve now used this for carrot celery turnip onion and cheese, both grated and sliced, it’s so simple and so fast. Clean up was a simple soapy rinse of only 3 components. This is much faster than the grating/slicing system on my KitchenAid food processor and easier to clean. . I love it and I highly recommend.
