I purchased this product to preview old negatives. I used a free app to snap the photo using my phone. This picture is one of many that I was so delighted to see for the first time. The viewer has three light settings which helped me snap a clearer picture. It was very easy to use and I could place many negatives at one time.

I like this light to view my slides with, but, I also discovered another use for it. It makes for a great backlight to use behind my desktop computer. It lights up the white wall behind it and makes it easier to see things and it's easy on the eyes too.

I needed an easier way to view my spouse's slide collection for a course I'm taking -- I was using his Kodak slide scanner which is for digitizing slides and negatives, etc., and that was cumbersome. This Eyesen Slide Viewer Light Box plugs into a laptop or hub and is ready to go! It's lightweight -- as thin as a clipboard and about the size of a large laptop. I can get about 15 loose slides comfortably on the surface or a whole sheet. The on/off button also works as a brightening button -- on, brighter, bright, off -- so that might annoy someone but I was fine with it. Because it's so light I could easily grab it or set it aside as I needed it. We have cats so the only problem was making sure to wipe it down with a non-abrasive cloth as necessary. You don't want dirt or hair getting on your photo slides/ negatives. I imagine it would also be good for artists and teachers -- for projects that require tracing. I purchased this for just over $20 (there was a coupon) tax included. I think it was completely worth it!

I needed this to help me sort thousands (literally) of old 35mm slides that I am gradually digitizing. For that use it is excellent, but I can't speak to its suitability for scanning as that's not what I am using it for.I am giving it only 3 stars because it is meant to come with a power cord, and mine didn't. That's a minor problem - most of us have plenty of power cords lying around, and actually some users of these light tables have complained that the power cord was packed against the illuminated side and damaged it - but it shouldn't happen.

This device is AMAZING! It is very slim, light but still durable. I have been banging mine around a lot. It has three (3) levels of brightness to bring out all the details. It has a larger viewing area than you realize at first. I have found my scanner to be indispensable.
