The SmartExhaust is designed as a replacement for the bathroom fan and light switch, helping insure healthy indoor air quality as well as adequate bathroom ventilation. This version has the Decora or Rocker switch. By using a microprocessor to monitor and control fan operation, a precise amount of ventilation can be provided. There are two settings on the SmartExhaust switch, ventilation and delay. Ventilation is the minutes per hour that you want the fan to operate. Delay is the number of minutes you want the fan to run after the bathroom light has been turned off.The delay time provides additional run time of the fan to complete ventilating the bathroom after use. When a person enters the bathroom and turns on the light, the fan is also energized. After the person leaves the bathroom and turns the light out, the fan continues to run for the set delay time. In addition once an hour the fan is energized for the set ventilation time. What makes this switch particularly unique is that the microprocessor monitors manual operation time and Delay time and subtracts it from the set hourly ventilation time.

This is another excellent product! I no longer have to remember to turn on the fan or remember to turn it off! By using this switch the fan is turned on when you turn on the light and it remains running for a set time after the light is turned off! Or I can double tap the off button and shutdown the fan. Really a great product!

We are a general and mechanical contractor specializing in improving health, safety, comfort, and energy efficiency in houses. The AirCycler seemed like a good fit for a bath exhaust fan replacement project. The existing fan/light combo was controlled by a single wall switch. The client wanted time delay options for the fan. The AirCycler switch is made for this application and meant we did not have to pull new electrical wires from the fan location and add a second switch.Issues-The first controller we received made a buzzing noise once installed. When our Project Manager called support towards problem solving, they gave him a hard time because we do not have an electrical license. This was beside the point of their product making a strange sound. The wiring was fine; their product was not. The tech support person confessed they have seen this issue before and offered to send a replacement. So, we make an additional trip to replace the faulty switch adding to our labor costs on this small project. The second switch caused the LED light to flicker. When our PM again called tech support they let him know they are aware of this issue with LED fixtures and offered to mail a resistor that would solve the issue. In the world of energy efficiency codes and the increased use of LED bulbs, it amazed me AirCycler has not included this in their product information. Had we known prior to recommending to our client this controller, we could have saved everyone time and money. In the end, we opted to pull a second wire, install a separate light switch, and an alternate time delay controller.

Simple one button controls.1) fan and light turn on with push of button on.2) light turns off with push of button off. Fan stays running for adjustable preset timer3) want to override and turn fan off immediately, just push off button a second time.4) "Aircycler" mode basically automatically turns on the fan to an adjustable time per hour automatically to keep house air moving. Dont like that feature, just adjust setting to zero. This feature is one of the best smart features of the product though!5) very discrete blue glow behind rocker switch. Looks nice and blends well with regular rocker switches

After installing the SmartExhaust SED-S the LED lights in my Panasonic fan unit flickered. They did not flicker in the dimmed/night-light setting, so I called AirCycler tech support to find out if I could bypass the dimmer system. As soon as their tech understood about the flickering she said they had a resistor that would fix the problem and she would send it to me. They did, and it worked, but it's a 5-watt resistor that must either be wired into the outside wiring of the fan unit (meaning I'd have to rip up the ceiling) or crowded into the same electrical box as the SmartExhaust switch, so in addition to diminishing the LEDs' efficiency there's now heat and there needs to be a new box with more room. Bottom line I'll spend much more on an electrician than I did on the switch and initial installation. That said, if this product IS redesigned to work with LEDs right out of the box, it should rate a full five stars.

I just did a Deep Energy Retrofit of my basement with incentives from my local utility. With the extra tightness of the house after the work, it was required that I increase house ventilation.Cycling my bathroom fan on for 10 minutes every hour met the requirement. This was the most inexpensive solution.

Installed this in two bathrooms after complete gut and remodel. Works exactly as described.CONS/Preferences: Would like to have ability to have preset level of fan power other than full on for the automatic function vs 100% for turn on) and is easily damaged by stray shorts (i.e You MUST turn circuit power off when doing Any adjustment to the wiring.) Attempting to repair a switch damaged by a short is not possible as several primary components are not available from electrical component supplies.
