Smartwool quality has gone downhill over the yrs. I used to be a loyal customer.....purchasing 1-2 base layers a year. But something has happened to their quality!I 'm referring particularly to the HEATHER COLORS of the women's 1/4 zip base layer. The HEATHER 1/4 zip base layer is particularly itchy and scratchy. I'm not sure what is different but the Heather material seems to have more texture......almost a sandpaper feel in it that causes my skin to react. Within a few minutes the sandpaper texture starts to itch around the neck....then my back....then my entire torso. On top of that the material shrinks.....significantly.....in the wash despite my very careful efforts at washing it in a COLD delicate cycle.I sent written correspondence to Smartwool's corporate location a few yrs ago voicing my concerns about quality.....however there was no response. I hope they can resolve it because I used to love Smartwool base layers and would remain a loyal customer if they can maintain the same quality!
