Does this box work to generate smoke, yes. But using a grill is a problem. I need a way to avoid direct heating and a gas grill is really set up for direct heat. It was hard to regulate temperature and the flavor wasn’t as strong. The size of the box is okay, but I found myself having to refill it a few times. Overall the product works as intended, but a gas grill is just not a good smoker.

I use my 3-burner gas grill as a smoker for meat (like baby-back ribs & turkeys). I used to do this by removing the grate and tent from the right-burner, and suspending a metal plate above the right-burner. I would then put wood chunks (like hickory) on that plate so that the wood-chunks would smolder. (I’d put the meat over the left burners, without igniting them.) That works well, but the wood chunks get too much air/oxygen and so they tend to go up in flames, rather than just smoldering. I got this smoker box to put on top of the metal plate and hold the wood chunks, restricting the air/oxygen so that the chunks smolder and last longer. It works well for that (and eventually probably pays for itself in wood-cost). The box gets hot when in use, so I use a fork to lift the smoker-box lid in order to add more wood chunks. I wish that the box were bigger so that it could hold bigger wood-chunks, but it is true to the dimensions provided in the listing. And I can work around the size by breaking up the wood chunks, or buying pellets instead of wood-chunks.This is a nice smoker box at a reasonable price so I’m giving it 5-stars for its size. But you may want to get a bigger one.

It's hard to review something you pretty much are throwing into fire! But it didn't whither or stink in the flames, and it didn't discolor in that manner indicative of substandard metal...just some normal charring. The holes allow just enough air in to keep the oxygen flowing in and the smoky flavor wafting out. Fair price for a good product!

This smoker box functions just fine, it's just a metal box after all. Construction is fine as is size and effectiveness, I like it.

I ordered this Pariplus Smoker Box for Gas Grilling - Sturdy Stainless Steel Smoke Box both for grilling and smoking various items. The box is adequate, and I do like the numerous venting areas, but the stainless-steel construction is very thin. Time will tell on the durability factor, but I'd be surprised if I get through more than two seasons with this.

I got this in addition to my cast iron smoker box and have been loving it. The hinged lid is a nice touch. The design provides ample aeration to produce a good amount of smoke. While lightweight, the build is solid and it feels like it will last through many uses.
