The Newest! “Tunes Tighter So You Sound Better.” The SN-8 Snark Super Tight Chromatic Instrument Tuner provides a solid stay-put clip-on direct connection to your instrument. Has more precise tuning, and advanced features! Power saving feature: tuner display will dim after 5 seconds of no sound detected. This conserve battery power. Display returns to normal brightness when a note is detected. If no notes are detected for 2 minutes, tuner will shut off.
Improved Full Color visual display with larger improved frequency lines making it an easy read. It can be used in practice or live giging situations. Other features: tap tempo metronome, pitch calibration, and a transpose feature for tuning guitars with capo. Internal vibration sensor detects notes by clipping on directly to instrument.
The Snark only weighs 1.5 ounces with a very expertly made clamp with rubber gripping jaws. The lower jaw hinges allowing it to fit any contour. Snark tuners will clip on and stay to even Ovation with the angled head stock. Also has ball socket on each end of the curved mounting post that connects the clamp to the face. Allows 360 degress maneuvering making the Snark perfectly adjustable for most any situation.
Comes complete with a CR2032 Lithium 3 volt battery. This is the same kind that many computers use for the clock battery. Battery is held in a simple pull out draw behind tuner face.
It’s best to tune-up on stage just before you play because the temperature on stage will be a little different than other places in the building. A clip on tuner is fast and you can put the Snark in your pocket as soon as you’re done or leave it on instrument. People will even ask you where they can get one because they are so impressive being so small, convenient, and quick to use. Tuning is easy. To go from one note to the next is very fast, almost instant so it takes less time to tune up. Snark has the transpose feature for perfect tuning with capo in place. I play mandolin and a tuner like this gets attached to the head above the tuners. It gets the vibrations and ideally gives an accurate reading. This one is very sensitive and the very colorful, visual face is easy to read and makes it easy to adjust the tuners to get each string perfectly tuned. And it is rechargeable and comes with the cord to connect it. I am happy to not be using those flat round batteries that my older tuners used. I always had trouble getting them to work after a battery change. This worked perfectly just out of the package.

This is hands-down the best tuner I've *ever* owned. The Snark SN8 works extremely well, and being chromatic, works on every stringed instrument I own (guitar, bass, banjo, violin) no matter what key the instrument is tuned to. I still use my Korg Pitchblack inline with my bass (also a very nice product), but that is mainly to get more cord length across the stage and still keep my signal strong. This little baby is amazingly easy to use, and always accurate. It has a nice bright easy to read display in any lighting situation and makes tuning a breeze and not a hassle (just as it should be - I've personally always hated those Boss pedal tuners). It simply does its job and does it very well. Also, buying this item from Amazon saved me quite a bit over the local Guitar Center, which is always a big plus. It feels tough too, this thing feels like it can easily handle the rigors of being tossed around, which is a very good thing. Despite the flimsy way the seller packaged this for shipping, the product arrived intact, and fast. I would have cropped a star for a damaged product in that little wimpy envelope they sent it in. Fortunately mine arrived in perfect condition (no thanks to that paper envelope - seriously, they should use a stiff cardboard envelope or small tube or something).I could not be happier, at least until I buy another one to keep at the house while the first stays in my gig bag.

I got this for my son for his guitar class for his tuner and it has gone great. He is able to tune really quickly and the battery was already included. He is able to tune really quick and it has helped him in his guitar class.

It's a nifty little device. My brother-in-law recommended it to me after I asked everyone else in our Bluegrass group to "please speak in G" one too many times while tuning with other devices. It's a little fragile with the two swivel joints, but so long as you practice a bit of caution, there's no reason it shouldn't last. The rubber grips do just that: grip. Once you have the Snark on your instrument, it's on until you take it off. I've only had it for a week now, but I can see how those grips may wear away at the varnish over a long time with frequent use, as they warn in the documentation. The display is crisp and fairly bright, but since there's no way to lock it into a particular viewing angle, I've noticed that is has a tendency to slowly swivel downward as I play, making it harder to see at times. However, the ability to get EXACTLY the viewing angle I need trumps a little squabble with gravity every time.As far as tuning goes,I side with the majority of the other commenters: it's quick and easy to tune with. I don't make a living playing music, but it's more than good enough for jam sessions with the family, or for a local gig. I've used it with great success on guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and acoustic bass. The only instrument that's given me any trouble is the 5-string banjo, and that's because the 5th string terminates so far up the neck compared to the others that it's hard for the Snark to pick up the vibrations from it. To compensate, I just have to pluck that string a little harder than I do the others, and it picks up just fine. All in all, for less than $15, it's an amazing little tuner. It clips securely onto your instrument, tunes accurately enough, and displays brightly enough, and you don't have to have everybody talk in unison while you use it.

I bought this SN-8 Tuner and a SN-5 Tuner, although I received the SN-8 first. It's very accurate and the display is easy to read, and has bigger colored indicator bars while tuning, more so than other Snark tuners. I also really like that it has a metronome, pitch calibration and transposes as well. The metronome is kind of "meh". Even a tiny digital "beep" would be better than just silent. Or even the option to have the metronome be silent or a beep would be amazing. The finish on the outside of this thing is cool. Matte black with that grippy but not sticky "smooth" texture. Hard to explain but it feels and looks cool. I love that it is NOT glossy.Having said that, lets move on to the SN-5. The one I got IS glossy, despite the pictures on Amazon showing that the SN-5 in the picture as matte black as well. The display on this one is great, and I actually much prefer the finer lines and "cents" indicators to that of the SN-8. But it lacks the metronome, pitch calibrator and transpose capabilities of the SN-8. Honestly, having tried both of them, I really wish there was an SN-9 or SN-10. A hybrid of the two that was matte black, had all the features of the SN-8, but the display of the SN-5. It's actually quite odd that this doesn't exist considering the display of the SN-5 actually HAS the metronome heart, the pitch calibration and transpose graphics ON it already. It just has finer visual indicators for tuning as compared to the SN-8.I know its just a 10 dollar tuner, but its kind of disappointing looking at the SN-5, seeing those features on the display, and knowing they do not actually work on this model. Yet you can SEE them there!! Maddening! lol.

Used Snark tuners years ago, but found that after a couple of years the mount would crack and not hold onto my guitar. I bought this new one a month ago when it advertised to have a good mount apparatus. Its easy to mount on the guitar and doesn't require a lot of had strength that I've lost being 80 y/o.. It also seems quite accurate.

I ordered this unit after reading the reviews. Honestly, this is the most convenient and accurate tuner that I have used, including my stompbox tuner. It is visible in the dark and particularly helpful if you gigging. I play fingerstyle jazz and blues. I tuned a bunch of acoustic guitars, including my 12 string in one sitting on stage and it worked wonderfully. Just a note, treat this unit gently - I broke the ball joint socket on the head by trying to force it down. i fixed it with a bag tie and it works great.SHOUTOUT to the SELLER!!!! : The tuner was shipped from Japan and arrived in Toronto in like less than a week after placing the order - well before I expected it to arrive. The sellers were also amazing - they added a bit of a personal touch - they included a little origami stork and a lovely thank you note (which I am keeping in my guitar case) - this is the first time that I ever received something like that from a seller. Good on you Japan-Subculture CA!J-Subculture are doing business on Amazon throughout North America, Europe and Asia. They are a motivated team and hold customer experience as a top priority - check them out.
