Is there a difference between an unmarked knock-off filter element and a genuine USA-made Solberg element. I think so. I compared the two side by side and they look almost identical. They feel identical. However, the element and plastic filter housing that shipped with my recently purchased Dewalt D55168 225 psi air compressor has no identifying markings on it. The Solberg filter element is marked "Made in USA" and has a patent number embossed on it. In addition, the recovery time using the Solberg element was 20 seconds less. This indicates that there is less restriction in the Solberg element. I'm surprised that the Dewalt QC Department would allow such a substitution. Someone is cutting corners. Go with a genuine Solberg element, and replace the cheap plastic OEM filter housing with a genuine Solberg one.In addition the filter housing of the original component fell apart during use and the element and cover fell to the floor. I'm surprised that Dewalt would substitute a cheap knock-off.

I needed to replace the filter cartridge in my Dewalt D55146 air compressor. The original replacement from Dewalt (Part # D24322) is ridiculously expensive at about $15 for such a tiny filter. Then I found this Solberg 04 filter and compared the specs - the height and bottom width are exactly the same, only the top width (with the lip) is a bit wider on the Dewalt (by about 1/16 inch - see pic).The Solberg fit perfectly in the filter casing. The lip compresses when you close the case making a nice seal without any leaks. I am quite happy to have found a sensibly priced replacement.

This was the correct size replacement for the air filter on my California air tools air compressor inlet air filter. They wanted to sell me the entire enclosure, so I was glad to find this dter replacement. This is for the lower power air compressors that use a 1/4 npt fitting for the inlet.

This is the exact same filter that goes on the airmax pond air ration system. Same patine number and all. Except the airmax brand cost 4 dollars more and 9.oo for shipping. Savings of 13.oo..
