Having used this squeeze trigger thingy for a year during SMD AND through hole work, I love it.I usually press the release catch and pull plunger back a smidge to prevent flux from oozing out the end. After work I cap it with a protective cap from ESD tweezers to prevent any mess or tube tip damage. This contraption is a permanent fixture on my soldering bench and happily used almost every time I fire up the ironThe side trigger aspect allows me precision at a comfortable working and hand angle.I don't know how it compares to similarly designed models from other manufacturers, but I would definitely recommend this item if wanting to level up from paste to tube flux.

A little bulkier than I expected, but it works well and is very accurate at dispensing. I also like the needle storage in the handle

The syringe tool works great. I have both the "flux" version and thr "solder paste" version, although they are the same thing. Applying constant pressure allows a continuous flow of either fluid. The only issue I have seen so far is the tooth that moves the plunger is weak, and the track teeth as well. I am down to one unit as the single tooth, amd two of the track teeth sheared off. I am now extra careful to not apply too much pressure.

This dispenser allows for nice variable pressure and much easier control than trying to use the provided syringe plunger.

tool itself is great, the flux is horrible sticky after it gets melted. Reminds me of the old rosin type flux. but they colored this clear.

I could never get the piston to start into the tube. I tried countless times to align it, but the handle would never push the piston face into the tube. Instead it always started to bend the frame and looked like it would break apart (being plastic). I could take the piston out of the tool and push it into the cartridge (with some twisting action) by hand, but the tool would never do that. Otherwise, it all went together just fine. Standard ChipQuik 15 gm cartridge. Save your money, do not buy this.

It's a great idea, but in the real-wold the size is just too big to be practical. You can't easily maneuver it around like you can with just a standard syringe. The stock syringe dispensers are not difficult to press in. If you are concerned about flexing or something get one of the anodized aluminum plunger assemblies. Those replace the stock syringe plunger offerings a significantly more stout plunger making it easier to press in.
