The last TV I had was a 1080P and upgrading to the Sony 55" XR55A80J BRAVIA XR OLED 4K Ultra HD Smart Google TV I can say that it is such a huge difference that it’s nothing less than amazing. Between the picture/sound quality and the features just wow! That said lets dig into this awesome TV!In the box/initial setup: First things first, the TV was very well packaged and easily removed from packaging for setup. I love how Sony made removal from the packaging easy by using a sleeved system by which you cut the straps and tear down the side at the perforations allowing super easy access. All in all the TV weighs what seems to be 40-45lbs and as such is easy to move even by a single person as I did. After removing a few more protective items we were able to attache the feet (which have several modes of attachment) and set the TV on the location we chose. Attaching the Blueray player, cable box, and surround system was of course super easy. Wifi and initial setup was easy using the on screen prompts and the google home app on my tablet which we already had in use. Next the app setup for vudu, Netflix, Prime video, Disney plus and Spotify were quick and easy. We also added VLC player to access the movies we have on our home Samba drive.Use/Quality: As for picture quality it is simply incredible. Everything we play whether DVD or Blueray looks stunning with the upscaling and as for true 4k we don’t have anything at that level yet, but with what we see on our existing setup it will be amazing! The contrast is the best black we have seen on any TV so far. Side note: the TV comes with Bravia Core which is a streaming service that from what we understand has true 4k content, so we are looking forward to seeing 4k on this TV. As for sound quality we tried it both WITH and WITHOUT our current surround sound system and man, the sound quality from the TV by itself is just awesome! You really can get by without a surround system but with what we are hearing out of the TV we will be upgrading our surround sound to a Sony soundbar soon. App usage is fast and lag-less, as for the voice control it flawlessly recognizes what we say correctly.Final thoughts on the BRAVIA XR OLED 4K Ultra HD TV are again one word, WOW! I really can’t stress enough the picture and sound quality of this TV. Not to mention it having no lag on menu and apps screens. Sony did this right which is what I expect from Sony. This TV is truly the top of the line in my book at a great price!

I bought the 65" last year on prime day and got a great deal. I loved it so much I bought the 77" this prime day and got another great deal. Paid the $29 for unboxing and setup which went smoothly. This TV has an awesome picture. The OLED can't be beat for image quality. My only complaint would be the glossy finish acts as a big black mirror so it's easy to see reflections in it. You definitely don't want it facing windows. Other then that, just stunning. The color is just so vibrant and it actually has detail in the blacks which so many LCD TVs lack. And no weird color banding either. The smart features are pretty good with a home page that puts most relevant items in one place. Haven't really had too many app bugs or glitches so it's seems pretty stable. I've used Netflix, Prime, HBO, Hulu, Disney and Bravia Core. They all run smoothly. That last one is included with the TV and gives you a free year of unlimited streaming at 4K lossless quality of a bunch of movies (probably all Sony) and 5 tokens to buy 5 titles. No C.C. needed to signup. So that's a cool add-on. Did a quick browse of the titles and there is some good stuff there. It has Google Chromecast and Assistant built in and is Alex compatible. So far I've just used Google to voice search stuff to watch.I've played quite a few games with my Xbox S and they look great too. It's only 60Hz so I can't comment on the 120Hz refresh rate but 4K at 77" is very immersive. Particularly with driving games. The TV recognized the Xbox as well as my cable box and the setup to control them with the TV remote went smoothly. The TV also automatically setup my cable box remote to operate the TV.I don't have a sound bar so can't comment there but the built in sound is pretty good. Quite loud and the tone is better then you'd expect given there is not much cabinet. Most of the TV is only as thick as your phone so... They claim to be using the entire screen as a speaker somehow. Whatever they are doing it works more than well enough but I will be adding real home theater audio to it...as soon as I stop buying TVs.So really happy with these Bravia OLED TVs, especially considering I got both for about 33% off.

My first OLED TV, very happy with the size and picture quality. I upgraded from my Samsung 65 LED TV.Combined with my Sony Soundbar, it's a true cinema experience.I love the Google TV/Apple Airplay built-in, no need to use an extra HDMI port, and its great to have all my streaming apps in one place. I played Spiderman with the PS5 and it was an amazing experience with "performance RT" mode, it provided such a smooth gameplay I have not seen before.Another bonus feature I just discovered that other reviews have not mentioned is the TV comes with a "media" app. I am able to plug in my portable drive and play any files including the latest codec files. The sound is amazing for a TV set, I set everything to max, and you can hear the 50watts of power.Overall, I love this TV. I purchased it through Gibby's Electronic, they provided great customer service and I saved money on free shipping and no PST, kudos to them too.

I decided on this Tv because I wanted to upgrade to an OLED and have true HDR. On black screens with white images the white does not bleed into the black with that glow you might see on lower end OLED.I started up my PS5 and tried a game i've recently been playing and despite previously being on a 4k display everything looked so much more detailed because of the combination of OLED, HDR and Colour accuracy.I'm sure the VRR helped too but im not really sure how much because the game doesnt natively support ot but its still a cool feature to have.A lot of tvs have a tendency to limit your control over picture settings. This is not one of them, there are so many options to adjust and play around with your picture to achieve what you want. Ill be honest a lot of the XR settings like reality creation and motion smoothing are off for me because of preference but its great to have for if i want to enhance low res content. When I was looking through different models and reviews I noticed some people saying the Sony Tvs are too dim. This can be true right out of the box but I recommend a) turning off the light sensor first b) changing the colour temperature to neutral c) setting luminescence to high.
