So I got these about a month ago, I got 2 colors of this size and one bigger container. My first test when I buy anything that claims to hold heat is to see if the outside surface feels hot. I tested these containers by pouring & storing boiling water. I poured the boiling water at 9 am and checked the temperature twice during the day. Upon initial closure of the lid after pouring boiling water my first observation is that the external surface did not feel warm or hot, which was a signal that the container was not letting heat out. If you ever buy a container that feels warm to the touch, know that the container is a failure lol. So this container passed my first test.My second test was figuring out if the water was still hot by 5 pm since my day ends at 5 pm. The water was still hot (not boiling hot but it was also not just warm). I closed it then checked again at 9 pm (so 12 hours after I poured the boiling water) and the water at that point was lukewarm-ish (warmer than room temp but not too warm). All in all, I think this actually holds heat pretty well. I will never need something to be hot after 12 hours, I ordered this just to keep my lunch warm at 2 pm after I prepare it at 7 am, so this allows me to eat my foot right out of the container at lunch time without having to reheat it.In terms of leaking, this actually held up really well. I tested it with just water, which in my opinion is the easiest to leak lol. It did not leak even one drop, so the seal was solid on this container.I’m giving it 5 stars because all in all, I think the item is priced fairly and it does what it claims to do. I’m sooo glad I gave it a shot and reviewed it because it has been a while for me looking for something affordable yet efficient and high quality.

I'm impressed with this soup thermos! Before using it for soup, I tested it thoroughly. I filled it with water and turned it completely upside down - over the sink, just in case. Not a drop came out. Then I filled it with boiling water from my tea kettle, closed it up, and left it for 10 hours. The water was still in the "hot tea" range when I checked on it the next morning. 18 hours later, it was still noticeably warm. That probably wouldn't be quite as hot as I'd want it to keep my food, but I also hadn't warmed up the thermos beforehand like they suggested. And I don't expect to be leaving my food in it for 10 hours, more like 4 or 5 hours. I'm sure it would keep my food in the desired temperature range for at least that long. Between the size and how well it insulates, I'm sure it'll work well for casseroles, too.Overall, I like the design as well. I wish it were available in more colors than just black, but I'm sure that'll change. I'm thrilled that it says it's dishwasher safe, though I'll probably wash the lid by hand to avoid the issue of having to either take the lid apart (they give directions, but who wants to?) or letting it drain afterwards to get the water out of the space above the gasket. I'm not sure why there are two holes connecting the spork space with the space above the gasket, but maybe it's so the gasket is able to be removed and washed. But that's a small issue. As for the spork? It's ingenious that they figured out how to make a full-size spork fit in the lid, but I'll just keep it there as backup in case I ever forget to restock the container of regular silverware I keep in my office desk.

We use this for hot items for our kids lunch (not soup), in her lunch bag within the cold stuff and ice packs, and her "hot" food is still warm at lunch!Example: In her insulated lunch bag, we pack both:- cold stuff in other non-thermal containers with an icepack: fruit, veggies and small treat- hot in this container (this container is set in same insulated lunch bag as the cold stuff): chicken nuggets or kids size cheeseburgerThe hot stays hot and the cold stays cold in her lunch bag!We are very impressed with this!PROs:- Quality looks to be great- Easy for LO to open/close on their own (tested by 5 year old)- Size/Weight - Not too big/bulky for a kid to carry in lunch- Includes foldable sporkCONs:- The full disassembly instructions are a bit intimidating.- The spork was a bit tricky for young one to unfold and fold back into the small holding spot. (It only goes one way.)The price seems about average for this type of product. However, I cannot speak to the quality of those other products. The description says this is Dishwasher safe, but we won't be testing that due to the seals. They work so well and don't want to risk damaging this container because we love it so much! Our LO was over always having just cold stuff for lunch, especially in the frigid midwest winter. This was a game changer to be able to separate but include both hot and cold stuff in her bag! I will update if anything comes up with durability. Otherwise, if no update, you can assume it is sufficient, we are still thrilled with the performance and would highly recommend! (We have two of these now and wash/rotate daily.)

The suction lid was a bit of a learning curve to use since most other thermos lids just screw on and off. However it works great and I did a spill test with hot water a few times, then tried again with soup. No spills and it was still warm 3 hours later which is perfect for my kid to take to school for lunch.
